Current mood: working Category: Automotive
It appears i don't post much anymore, sorry for that, guess i'm never really in the mood to write anything. Life is going well, not much more to say. Yesterday though, was an experience. I've been getting allergy shots for the past month. This all started after the 4th of July when i basically crashed from some allergic reaction to a cat or something, not sure. Anyways, i saw an allergist, they did this test where they stick you in the back with all these allergens then gauge how allergic you are by the diameter of the reaction. I'm lying on my stomach reading a book, then the nurse comes in and say something like "wow, you're an allergic guy". This can't be good. So they record the data, and then i talk to the doctor, he explains my options, and i tell him that i'll do the shots, as long as it doesn;t cost me anything. It doesn't, so they make up the serum, and i start the following week. For those of you who are not familiar with allergy shots, they inject you with small amoutns of the things you are allergic to, so you can build up antibodies in your system, and eventually not be allergic. I used to get these as a kid, then stopped once i became immune. So, when you get your shot, you have to wait around for 20 minutes or so to see if you react badly to it. yesterday was my 4th shot, and i was almost done, when i sneezed twice. Yes, all i did was sneeze twice. This sets the nurse off into a frenzy, she's like "no sneezing", i look at her all confused. They think i'm having a reaction. So they show me the symptoms of a reaction, and i tell her my palms are kinda itchy. Immediately they take me back, do all these tests, give me some zyrtec, and ask how i'm doing, i tell them fine, a little itchy, but fine. They then decide to give me a shot of epinephrine. This makes me feel all weird, because it is pure adrenaline. I then start feeling a little dizzy, they lay me down, and call an ambulance. By the time they get there i'm perfectly ok. But i have to go the stupid ER anyways. The paramedic puts in an IV, draws some blood, and off i go. THe IV btw was freaking huge, like 14 gauge or something. So off i go on a stretcher to ER to be monitored for an hour. They give me some fluids, the doc checks me out, i'm fine. I can leave in a hour. An hour comes, he checks on me, tells me i'll be discharged shortly. 30 mins go by, no one in sight. I ring the buzzer, a nurse comes, i tell her the doc discharged me, she unhooks me, and gets the paperwork ready. She asks if i have a ride, i tell her no, the paramedic told me you would call a cab. They do, give me a voucher, and i finally get to my car at 5:30. That was a big waste of 3 hours all because i sneezed...jeesh. What sucks is that it is going to cost me $100 for the ER, and 10% of the ambulance. I'm just lucky enough to have good insurance. Other than that, it was 8 months ago today that Jen and I had our first date. Work is slow, i'm hungry, and in need of some beer i think.
