This past tuesday, on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, the Philadelphia Chapter of the IVAW was given the oportunity to lead a panel dicussion following an exclusive performance of the internationally acclaimed docudrama "What I heard about Iraq: A Cry for Five Voices".

What I Heard About Iraq" tells the story of the Iraq war from its beginnings until nearly the present day using quotes from politicians, administration figures, troops, and military family members.  This powerful drama condenses the past 4 ½ years of war in Iraq into one riveting act.  By following this performance with the real-life stories and perspectives of Iraq war veterans, audience members gained insight into how the U.S. occupation is affecting our active-duty troops, veterans, and their families.  Following the powerful drama, four of our chapter members shared thier personal experiences fighting in Iraq, thier readjustment upon coming home, and thier efforts to end the war. The event, which was held at the Rotunda in University City, had an excellent turnout, leaving standing room only. Guests in attendance included members of the Grannies for Peace Brigade, Veterans for Peace, and a significant number of students from the University of the Arts.
