I find it entertaining at times, that people think they can rewrite who a person is lol.....anyway, there will always be those who think they know it all lol
 
 

That's just the way Wikis work. People add what they know, or think they know. Naturally, the Mari they know isn't an absolute match to how you know yourself. It's like how they say there's three versions of a historical figure - the real, the historical, and the romanticized. All very different, yet all true in one way or another.

オレはWikipediaから真理さんのHPにたどり着き、myspaceに登録し、こうして真理さんとつながりを持ててます。
Wikipediaを読んで、真理さんってこーゆー成り立ちなんだと思ったよ。
でも、真理さんからもらったメッセージで、実はWikipediaに書いてあるものは実際とはまったく異なるものだと知った。
と同時に、真理さんがマクロスのしがらみから抜け出せないつらさを知った。
ようもまぁ、知りもしないで書けるもんだなぁと思った。
マクロス関係ナシにデビュー出来てれば、日本にいられただろうに。
多くの人に、真理さんはミンメイではなく、飯島真理というミュージシャンであることをわかってほしいと思うよ。

You've got quite an interesting point there. I guess these kind of wikipedia entries are just another aspect of celebrity culture. Traditional media started that culture because they thought they needed heroes and public figures to sell stories and dreams by ways of papers and magazines and so on. But then the internet took over and everyone having a page somewhere can become a star. It's very Warholian in a way, but I guess it's also human, because it's nice being popular. Still, there are side effects to it, like people talking and other people writing wikipedia entries. But the difference is when it's just talk, it can die down as soon as the sound waves have decayed beyond the listenable, whereas pages on the internet can be there kind of like forever, until the provider closes up shop or some hacker deletes them. I guess it's about time that those of us who have grown up with the net educate the next generation about these things, because in a world that's growing together increasingly tighter because of the internet, politeness that goes beyond netiquette is gaining in importance, and that is a traditional domain of education. Thank you for stirring up that thought with your post.
