Greetings pop-pickers, as Ugandan Dictator Idi Amin once said.
Firstly, Symbolics would like to wish everyone a happy new year, and thank everyone who helped make 2006 a good one. In my case that means Tony Soprano, Jilal from the 3 'n' 1 on Ayr Road and someone else in October.
Thanks to everyone who came along to the Sleazys gigs in December. Good nights were had, thanks in no small part to The Black Carnations and The Teeth for playing with us on the 5th, and to LJ Donnachie for her fantastic organisational skills both on and ahead of the 19th.
On the 21st we played at the Grundioso Records Jonathan Richman tribute night, which I think everyone would agree was a cracking night. You can have a wee flick through some photos from the event at http://www.flickr.com/photos/cadd/archives/date-posted/2006/12/21/
Thanks to Jamie and everyone for inviting us and providing a great evening's entertainment.
Late in November Symbolics spent a weekend at our bassist's farm recording a video for the live demo version of "Social Dancing". Hours of footage were shot on HD equipment, and they are currently being whittled down to music video length on some fancy editing equipment. Thanks to the always beautiful Pete Fullarton for that. Expect toys, warm lighting and a fish called "Left". And Symbolics. Pictures from the shoot can be found at this link http://bebo.com/PhotoAlbum.jsp?MemberId=648068076&PhotoNbr=1&PhotoAlbumId=2822130842
The next Symbolics gig is on Friday 26th January at the Buff Club. Unfortunately this means that the Malletsheugh Inn in Newton Mearns will be minus a DJ for the night, but, as child-killing ska purveyor Suggs knows all too well, sacrifices must sometimes be made in the name of rock and roll.
There are a number of other things on the horizon, ranging in level of interest from "quite interesting" to "very interesting". When they materialise this blog will quickly be updated.
I'll finish by leaving you with the immortal words of Sir Bob Geldof; "L'oreal for Men - because i'm worth it".
Have a great 2007
All the best
Adam Hodes Symbolics
REMEMBER - Radio was great, but now it's out of date - Symbolics are the thing this year
