All right, some catching up to do. A lot of people have been wondering what we've been up to lately. I'll tell you this: it involves secret cave bunkers, plots, nude photos, and various schemes of all sorts. We have a handful of new songs -- five, to be exact -- and we will be heading into the studio to record them all sometime mid-November. Suffice to say, these are easily the
heaviest songs we've ever written; and they're pretty good, too. The majority of our new material has yet to be played out live, but a couple of songs -- "Writing for the Pictures" and "Punishment and Profit" -- some of you may have heard once or twice, at our most recent of shows (though, honestly, they were anything but "recent"). Of course, we'll be sure to post a track or two from the future recording, once it's finished. (I mean, I know you all must be sick of hearing me scream: "Hoooowwwww..." every time you visit our page. I certainly am.)
Speaking of shows, we are once again on the market! We haven't played out since July -- yikes! Our first show back will be on Saturday, November 24th, at the good old Westcott Community Center. Our comrades in Harbor and Seagrave will be joining us, in addition to Kuru, My America is Watching Tigers Die, and The Rodeo Machine. This show is a benefit for the WCC, so please do your best to attend. Finally, we are looking to book a couple of shows in December, and, yes, we are on the bill for Syracuse's annual New Years Day show. More info forthcoming on all of the above.
And the awesomeness continues... In January, we will be on the road for a couple of weeks -- East, West, and South -- with our new pals End of a Year. We'll post dates as soon as we have final details. Hopefully, directly before this, we will also be doing a couple of dates with our West Coast buddies The Helm. Will the raging ever stop? No! Along with us on all of these upcoming shows (most definitely during the dates with End of a Year, at least) we will have, fresh from the factory or wherever, the 12" vinyl version of "Low (Swing the Pyramid Hands)"; it's been a long time coming, yes, but this nifty item will finally see the light of day! Our BFFs at Teenage Disco Bloodbath will be handling the release, and we'd like to thank them and encourage everybody to go check out their site:
www.myspace.com/tdbrecords.
Finally, the question arises as to why we've taken so much time off. Well. For one thing, songwriting. For another thing, we have a new member, Bob/Robert/RoboBob. He's pretty mysterious, but here's what I've found out about him thus far: He hails from El Paso, Texas; he relocated to sunny Central New York about a year ago; he can shred pretty hard and even multi-task; and he claims At the Drive-In stole his idea of covering a guitar cab with the flag of Texas. Oh, and his dad is, like, GG Allin or something.
For now, that about sums it up. But check back often for more updates!
