Current mood:So damn grateful
Somewhere in april I started to plant some stuff. After a while when they had grown 2 inches, I had to "repot" (dutch expression) and put them into larger pots.
I like plants and flowers, and admire them a lot when at people's places, but I was never into growing anything myself. You're never too old.

In fact, what started it off was that I had been given a box with a couple of 4 leaf clover seeds in February. A friend had a couple of boxes in her kitchen cupboard drawer. They were given to her in the supermarket, as a kind of spring greeting.
There was still a pot with soil, in the living, in which lilies had been. I put the seeds in, added some water and forgot all about them. And after a while I thought, what the heck is sprouting here, I remembered that it were the 4 leaf clover. What a pleasant surprise. End of April I put them on the balcony together with the other pots. And wow... this week I had another surprise. They BLOOM!!
My grandma had green fingers. Well... maybe it's genetic?!

You know, when I saw that after only 5-6hrs I had stuck the tiny seeds in the ground I could already see that something was sprouting out (one of the herbs). I was in total AWE. I just couldn't believe my eyes.
It made me smile and I said: GROW, GROW, GROW.
And that's what I''ve been saying now to them daily when I water them.

I never thought how rewarding this all is.
Good feelings, and pleasant vibrations.
Below: A few pics of the growing activities on my balcony.

4 leaf clover in bloom. It made my heart glow this week.

4 leaf clover, other shot.

4 leaf clover in bloom. Isn't that sweet?
On the picture, I could see the hairs on the leaf and the stem, which I didn't see with the bare eye... AND... I didn't wash my hands too great. I see a residue of mango under my pinkie... (oh oh)

The Herbs: 6 types.
3 on top: sellery, basil and thyme
3 below: kervel,  majoram (these are being overgrown by the kervel) and right Bieslook (mmm, I will look up the English names). They are hot and taste real nice.

The strawberries.
These are slow growers. I'm curious about how they will develop.

TOMATOES: I really hope they will deliver some nice sweet ones.

GROW GROW GROW my dear ones.
May all beings be HAPPY!

Staying in the Moment

Farmer Sherrill! Isn't it fun?! I find it to be one of the most rewarding things. Drop a seed in some dirt, give it some light and some water and behold! ... life! I always wonder how those little seeds know how to grow. They seem so inert in their package, so devoid of flowers and leaves.

Lovely to have fresh herbs, too! (Especially in soup:) I've got fresh basil, oregano, mint and thyme and I use them as fast as they grow.

Good for you! May your strawberries outgrow their planter ... and your harvest be mighty.

Hey lovely sister,
Yeah, it's truly AMAZING that there is so much information in a little seed. And goodness, it works out so well and so fast!!
I'll buy some mint seeds as well. And what we call koriander, and also sellery. The one I have was parsely, not sellery. mmm... I got it mixed up pretty bad. I only know they taste good... (grin).

I will talk some more to the strawberries and I'm sure they will be so pleased by the extra attention, that they will speed up and grow a little faster!!!

BIG love woman!
And safe travels to 'roo.

yup! I'll never forget how touched I was when I saw a little sparrow was learning to fly. It's over 30 years back and it still brings me joy when thinking of it.

very good photographs. you must be into photography. i had a herb garden in Coffs Harbour and basil, parsley and thyme were there. its great just going out, picking what you want and using it in the cooking. since we moved to Wollongong, we have a large area of backyard, adn part of it my wife is using to plant lots of trees. it will be about 6 years i guess before the trees get to a decent <myspace>size</myspace>, but gardening gives you the opportunity to get outside and do something you like doing surrounded by nature. i am not a keen gardener, but i do like planting things and watching them grow. i believe in springtime in Switzerland you can see lots of plants dangling from window boxes in the houses. missed that in April. Must be a very nice sight.
all the best,
wayne.

Hey there Wayne,
Thanks for the compliments on my photography. Picking up my old skills. I haven't photographed for over 10 years with a slr camera, and bought myself a digi slr 4 weeks back. (CANON 400D)

The "balcony gardening" is truly fun. it's indeed wonderful, to just pick some fresh herbs and use them right away in a salad or with cooking, but I like to chew on them too just because it tastes so great.

My inlaws in Portugal also had a garden with lots of fruittrees, lots of herbs and of course chickens.

Yeah, it takes a while with trees... Be patient... (smile)
Love and Peace

Sherrill,
Careful...once you start, you can't stop--advice from a former brown thumb.

Those 4-leaf clovers are gorgeous. How unique!
I spotted the basil in the herb garden right away. I LOVE BASIL!
The kervel is probably what we call chervil. I've never tasted it, nor have I tried to grow it. Maybe I should!
The strawberries may not do anything this year. I have to look up what you're growing Zone is there. A woman on GardenWeb who is from Denmark is our Zone 7. I would think your area would be too. I'm a Zone 5 (remember the 7 feet of snow?)

Congratulations, Sherrill. I can't tell you what a blessing learning how to garden has been to me. It's such a mirror of life in general, and the act of nurturing something alive to fruition does something for the soul.
((Hugs))

Ayoh, pikin Sisa,
Wanted to ask you for some advice, because I know you're into gardening. I admired your flower pics AND I want to encourage you to pick up the cam, shoot some pics and share again!!

mmm... my poor strawberries. I was afraid they wouldn't do something this year. A friend of mine bought plants already with fruits. But I wanted to follow it all from the very beginning... Gotta fly to GardenWeb woman and see what I need to do and what I can expect. whoa, yeah, the pile of snow in your backyard was unbelievable. It look wonderful though...

It really feels so good to see it all grow. You're right it DOES something for the soul.
It's another discovery of something I wasn't familiar with yet.

BIG HUGS to you too my love.
SiSa Sherill
PS: Gotta call soon. Still landing on Earth. I miss the silence terribly.

Good luck on your gardening. I've just started some containers with tomatoes and cucumbers and a few herbs. It's addictive once you start, but so full of joy. It really makes me feel like I am part of the web of life. Keep talking to your little green babies and they will grow happy and healthy. Peace and Love, Paula

May your greenies grow happy and healthy too! Cucumbers will not work on my small balcony. I might try that in my mom's garden next year. I like radishes as well, and that's another one I will go for. I think mom's gonna like it too.
It's so great to read how everyone enjoys doing this.
You're right my love it's one more evidence that we are ALL PART of the web of life.

Grow Grow Grow... (smile), same for them and same for us.
Peace and Love backatcha, dear Paula

Hi Sherill,

One of my friends here - http://www.myspace.com/lisalove24 - just released a blog "The Power of Thoughts" where research shows just how our thoughts affect the consciousness of plants. It is almost scary to think that if we have such an effect on plants, how much more do we not have on humans and animals. Moreover, the reactions in these plants were only known because they were measured. Usually we don't walk around with a tool to measure how we impact our world, but if we were to be aware of this more often, we may get a hint of the great responsibility we have that is inherent in the great privilege we have as humans. A single thought you have affects the entire Whole. Let's try to keep that in mind. Namaste.

Hey there, my dear other ONE,
Will hop over in a minute to lisalove24 her myspace site and read all about it.
Decades ago I read about the feelings of plants and their consciousness and how they react e.g. to different types of music. This led also to a Hollywood movie - of course - (the title won't come to mind right now), about a plant who witnessed a murder and how with special equipment (that was also the name of the movie...) they found the murderer. Very intriguing...

Lots of Vegetarians say, they have become vegetarian, because the are against the the killing of animals. I have always wondered: is it okay to kill plants/veggies too? they are also living creatures, aren't they? It seems that trees scream when they are being chopped off. We would stop killing the Amazon Rainforest if we realized that we are killing a part of us as well.
Have you read that there are people who live solely on sunlight (...) and others who have been drinking only water for over 5 years. We can even do without veggies...

Power of thoughts... yeah I do believe in it. Thoughts are vibrations. And even if the words we say are NOT negative, but our feeling is, the other person WILL feel the negative vibrations coming through, one way or the other.

And before you know it, this also can and will be used as a weapon... Am I judgmental and into negative ego-thinking again? We can use Power of thought also, to bring peace and happiness into the world too, for EVERYONE!!

BIG love and flow with ease in utmost peace
Your other You.

Hi Sherill, I dont think its a green thumb per se I think that it's your good vibes. All that love and happiness that you feel all the time even when things dont go your way ! Dear Evelyn,
What a nice thing to say, that they grow on good vibes. Means a lot to me. YEAH, they're truly my babies/children. It's a great joy to see what a bit of attention, water and sun can do. And indeed, we are co-creators with God. Thanks for reminding me!!!

It's a necessity to stay connected even when the going gets tough. And I always say, it's not always easy, but bit by bit I get the "hang of it" and remember that the Source of Love is forever present, loving, supporting, guiding and comforting. All of us.

HUG my dear friend. It's a joy you're out there.
