These days pleasures seem few and far between but when you heard Jennifer Logue in action you know you instantly that she is one of lifes pleasures to be enjoyed. Her combination of Rock, Pop and Folk. After hearing Jennifer's EP 'The Pretty EP' I just had to interview her and here's what this talented lady has to say for herself.
Street Voice: First off can you introduce yourself to our readers please?
My name is Jennifer Logue and I'm a singer/songwriter from New York City.
Street Voice: What initially inspired you to pick up an instrument and play music?
I was inspired to start singing after seeing the musical, Annie. I started playing the flute shortly after that- and honestly, I couldn't tell you why. My parents aren't musicians nor is anyone in my family. That early foundation set the tone for my life up to this point. I just kept on adding more and more to my musical plate. With songwriting, guitar, piano... There's always something new to learn.
Street Voice: You've just recently released the Pretty EP so how has that gone down with you fans and the music?
The Pretty EP hasn't actually been released yet. A few tracks have been leaked but the "official date" is June 17, 2009. I've been getting great feedback on the songs from fans at live shows so I'm "pretty" excited to see what the response will be to the recorded tracks.

Street Voice: Was this your debut release or have you released other music? If so where can people check these releases out?
I released the Woman in Me EP in 2006. The songs are near and dear to my heart but they aren't representative of the artist I am today. So I'd like to say the Pretty EP is my first official release. But if you are curious about my earlier work- the EP is available on Amazon and ITunes.
Street Voice: So how do you as an artist feel about the finished product?
I am really excited to share the Pretty EP with the world. When I was writing the songs, I wasn't thinking about how they would all fit together in the end. They just came to me as life experience came to me. But in listening to the EP as a whole, it's crazy. Every song has it's own personality yet shares a common energy. The sounds make you feel like a spring day. I think that kind of hopeful, upbeat vibe is much needed in the world we're in right now.
Street Voice: Where do you get the ideas for the lyrics?
My lyrics are a combination of my own experiences and my insatiable hunger for art. My favorite lit professor in college would always say, "Write what you know." So the best lyrics are always simple and honest. On the flip side, I'm a huge poetry nut, I love foreign film, and going to art galleries. So, I guess you could say this has a subconscious impact on my writing.

Street Voice: Are there any plans to tour off the back of this release? If so where you heading?
Yup! Well in the late summer and fall I'll be doing a tour from the east coast to the west coast with some fellow artists in a beat-up rented van. Should be an adventure. After that, I'm doing solo shows in Europe- mainly in the UK, Spain, Italy, France, Amsterdam...I'm a total travel nut so I'm ecstatic about touring.
Street Voice: What do you enjoy doing when you're not playing / writing music?
I'm really into running. I'm also a big foodie. So luckily these two things balance each other out. I also love learning new languages. I already speak Spanish fluently. Now I'm working on perfecting my Portuguese. I think a trip to Brazil is in order for that one!
Street Voice: Do you think America will be safer place under the new president?
I think Obama is doing a phenomenal job so far. He has definitely begun to heal America's standing with the international community, so I think in that aspect, we're moving in the right direction and are safer as a result.

Street Voice: Any opinion on your Govts low flying plane stunt in NYC?
Low flying plane stunt??? Wow. I need to get out of my music bubble. Maybe I should actually turn on the TV once and a while. When did this happen?
Yep on the 27th April 09 the president's plane flew low over NYC for a photo opportunity shoot but ended up scaring everyone witless thinking it was another terrorist attack!! The President wasn't on board.
Street Voice: What plans do you have for the rest of 2009?
Well, this summer I have my official release party (The Pretty Party) on June 17 and then I begin a good 6 months of traveling and touring after that. I've decided to start a video blog documenting my adventures, so I'll be able to keep everyone posted on my latest shenanigans. It's called "Song of the Week" with Jennifer Logue. Basically, I do an original song no matter how bad the song is or where I am once a week. I could be on a beach, on a swamp tour, anywhere. Should get interesting once the summer traveling begins...Ummmmmm. Aside from that, I'm working on new material for my next release.
Street Voice: Anything you'd like to add?
That's pretty much it! If you want to snag some free downloads off the EP, you can visit: www.myspace.com/jenniferlogue If you want to make it out to one of my shows but are unable to, you can always subscribe to the jenniferloguemusic channel on YouTube. 9 times out of 10 someone films and uploads footage, so it's the best way to keep up. And...Aside from my shameless self- promotion, just want to say muchisimas gracias to Street Voice for interviewing me! You rock. :-)
Thanks to Jennifer for doing the interview and being one cool lady. Hopefully you'll check out 'The Pretty EP' as it's a damned fine release. This is one artist shouldn't be ignored. Check Jennifer Logue out and you'll understand what all the fuss is about!
