I came across Meg And Rebel Heart flicking through My Space and loved what I heard. Despite being a young band they've got something very good going for them. I had to feature them in Street Voice so an interview was sent off and here's what Meg has to say.

Street Voice: Meg & Rebel Heart are probably new to our readers so can you introduce yourselves please?

Meg & Rebel Heart: We are called “ Rebel Heart”. We are a hard rock band with elements of the 60s and 80s great music.

Street Voice: How long have you been together as a band and what was the inspiration behind starting it in the first place?

We have been together for over a year. I (Megan Bennett) have dreamed of having my very own band and playing all over the world and touching others through our lyrics, therefore I did not rest until I found the right guys for our band.

Street Voice: What artists/bands actually inspired your love in music in the first place?

My greatest inspiration is John Lennon, Bob Dylan and all the great bands of the 60s.

Street Voice: How far do you want to take it as a band?

We would like Rebel heart to become a huge and great band, so we can be an example to the Youth! We want to give a positive impact through our lyrics.

Street Voice: You currently have a CD out so can you tell our readers about it and where they can possibly buy it from?

Our Album is self titled. I began writing when I was 13 years old. I recorded my first song at age of 15. I was very lucky to be introduced to The Legendary DJ Rodney Benginheimer, “The Mayor of Sunset Strip”. He plays my songs every time I finish recording.

Street Voice: I noticed you’re coming to the UK to do a few shows so what brings you brings to our fair shores?

We were invited to play at he International POP Overthrow. It will be an honor to play at the Cavern Club and other venues where the Beatles used to play. I love England and it was my dream to visit Liverpool for my 18th birthday but I never imagined that we were going to be invited and asked to play the same night as my B.D at the Cavern Club! It’s a DREAM COME TRUE!!

Street Voice: Wouldn’t it have been better doing a full tour rather than just playing the same city 3 times?

We were not planning a tour this year, since we are a new band we wanted to tour first in the US. It was an invitation I could not turn down. The band is absolutely happy!!!. We are so far receiving great support from our fans in England. We can’t wait to get there!

Street Voice: Are there any other plans to head back into Europe later this year?

I will be in Scotland In August. This is a vacation, but I will be doing a few acoustic shows. Our band is planning a European Tour for summer 2010. We would love to tour Japan as soon as we can because our song “Inflexible” is strong there and has been in the top ten during April and May. It can be heart at “Good Morning Garage radio program.

Street Voice: So where do you get the ideas for your songs?

Life in general is my best inspiration. I just have to look around and listen what happens daily with people. There so many lessons in life that is my best tool.

Street Voice: Meg being only 17 is it hard to juggle your education with your love of music and the band?

Yes, life if full of challenges but for me music and the arts are the Breath of air, so I decided to do Independent studies for my last year of high school, which is working way better for all my activities.

Street Voice: You’re also very pretty so has modeling ever been an option? If it was offered to you would you do photo shoots if it helped your band?

I would love to do photo shoots, alone and with my band because they are good looking boys! I imported the Lead Guitarist from Italy, The Drummer from Germany. The Bass player is my brother.

Street Voice: So apart from music what other interests do you have as a band?

Fashion is another passion of mine. I’m also a writer and I’m ready to publish my first book. I hope to find the right director and producer for the movie based on my book. The title is “Beautiful Tomorrow”.

As a band we’re looking to create music together and tour around the world. Also explore the fashion and merchandising industry.

Street Voice: What plans do you have for the rest of 2009?

We would like to be in every home in America. We will be doing shows al lot and writing together as a band, because we are a real Band.

Street Voice: Anything you’d like to add?

The Youth needs a new band with a real fresh new sound, look and attitude. I hope we are that BAND that is loved and admired for all the best reasons.

Thanks to Meg for doing the interview. If you get the chance please do check out Meg And Rebel Heart as they're a young band but very fresh sounding and certainly worthy of your attention.
