What would I say if the whole world were my audience?
With the Internet and technology today, I am able to write from Texas and be read in New York, London, China and beyond.
That reality is one I find to be humbling, exciting, as well as somewhat intimidating.
As an aspiring young writer, one would expect me to have jumped at the chance to publish my articles.
I did jump, but not without some trepidation.
It is not that I have ever lacked for opinions or even the words with which to express them. I am, after all, a writer.
My fear concerned how you, the readers, would receive me.
I wondered: Will the readers like me? Will they and I have anything in common?
But suddenly I realized, you and I have everything in common.
We each have dreams and we both want them to come true.
Each of us is on a journey of discovery, even if not the same one.
We are all each day learning who we are and whom we wish to become.
Today you are my readers. Soon, I hope, you will become my friends.
Here's to adventures, both yours and mine, and to the stories we will share.
