Category: Life
As the pace of life increases adding pressures and stresses to our daily lives, we must develop and integrate activities into our lives as a means of prevention of mental and emotional illness.  We are constantly bombarded by negative images and concepts through media as the culture of exploitation, pain, and personality.  This acceptance grows in scale each passing year and is becoming as the norm.  Both network and cable television has deteriorated to a state of sensationalism of extremes and a fascination with celebrity, celebrating the greed, narcissism, and worst of human behavior.  We are becoming desensitized to the horrors of violence to a point where our children are killing each other and committing mass atrocities in mimicry of video game, film, and television violence.  We as a community and as a nation must take responsibility to protect the future of this once great nation, and restore the principles of a simpler time.  We must learn from history that the degradation of moral values will lead to a cultural, economic, and governmental collapse, and return our focus to the greater good and the nation as a whole as apposed to special interest and corporations.

I totally agree with you! I have been a teacher of small children for most of my life, and I worry about whether they are parented with unconditional love, and taught respect for the earth and for other living things. I see rampant child abuse ! In most cases, if you subject these children to the media, the answer is "no". Media is a very powerful tool that can be used for the good, but it is exploited. I had a chance to visit the Amish this fall. They are happy! I could see the values that they had posted on the classroom wall of the little one room school house. They cared about being kind, cooperative, and learning from one another! I saw a lot of love and a lot of joy in these people! They don't "do" the media!
