Well tonight we are going to dinner to say goodbye to one of our first employees, Chris Jones.  Chris has been here for our first two years and it is going to be sad to see her go.  She graduated from UNL a few months ago and I suppose she thinks she ought to have a real job.  So we are going to see her off in the Meadowlark way, good times.  Not sure who is going to boss the bosses around without her...

Now we are down to one female employee and it's starting to feel a little testonerony around here.  Luckily we are all "emo" coffee kids so it's not tooooo macho but I think it's nice to have girls on the team.  They tend to see things from a different, but necessary, light sometimes.

Had a good open mic last night.  Fuse Studios came in and ran the sound and brought in some nicer microphones for us to use.  They had a few musicians they know come in and do some songs.  I'm always impressed with Lucas Kellison.  He plays a kind of acoustic R &B style when he is here.  Really nice for the shop.  I played as well but I'm glad I went before Lucas.  There were a couple of comedians that tried their wares on us as well but I don't think the coffee shop is the best place for stand-up.  Coffee doesn't seem to induce laughter like alchohol.  If anything, it seems to induce critical thinking.  Which isn't a comedians best friend.  But all in all it was a fun night and Fuse Studios seemed to have a good time as well.

So Halloween is coming up and I think I have my costume picked out.  I haven't dressed up for Halloween in about 15 years so this should be interesting for me.  I plan on dressing as a soldier from the revolutionary war or something.  Just like the thought of the long coat and outfit.  Think it will be a good mix of formal, fun, and different.  Not sure how much it will be to rent a costume like that but hopefully my shoestring budget can handle it.  Going to have a party out at the farm so I feel like I should at least have a costume for it.  Don't want to end up dressing as a sack of potatoes at the last minute or, every guys last minute costume, dress as a girl. Of course, if I was girl I could just dress like a slutty anything, nurse, maid, drill sergeant, sheep herder, as a friend of mine said.  Who knows maybe as the party rolls on I will become a slutty soldier.  Knot my shirt in the front and swing my coat over my head...maybe not.  Don't want to scare any potential partiers away.

So I just hung out with my good friend Jeri Mulberry.  She has a way of grounding me.  Reminds me of what is important in life.  Just wanted to send some props out to her and all the loving folks at the Meadowlark and invite you all out to the farm for a Halloween hootenanny.  See ya there.
