Dear friends.... I almost indulged in negative energy and posted a collection of rejection e-mails that I've been getting from my initial press/radio/etc mailing for "Blue Circle". Luckily I had some time to come to my senses and, as they say, accentuate the positive. Not only is "Blue Circle" available through all major online outlets (including Target yo) but now it's available on two of the coolest purveyors of pure pop on da Net, as well. Not Lame (http://www.notlame.com) and Kool Kat Musik (http://www.koolkatmusic.com) The first guy to champion Bubble's debut EP, Not Lame founder Bruce Brodeen was also the first to contact me the minute "Blue Circle" was posted on CD Baby...and I remembered how awesome Not Lame had been to Bubble. Read his endorsement of the disc below.... "Been a long time since we heard from Dave Foster. For Not Lame folks who have been around here since the mid/late 90's, Foster fronted a really fine pop band called Bubble. What a few years can bring! Foster has not only matured as a songwriter by large leaps and bounds, he's figured out a way to push obvious boundries and deliver an intensely enjoyable, listenable and highly recommended release! Listen the fabulous soundbites below, in particular, the first one "One Day" which upon my first listen – I promptly played three straight times right afterwards! Very Highly Recommended!"
Kool Kat Musik has always been on my pop radar as well so it was an honor to be approached by them to carry the CD...read their little blurb... "What a pleasant, early 2008 pop surprise this one is! This solo debut by the former front man of brilliant NY-poppers Bubble began immediately after September 11, 2001! In 2002, with the album complete in demo form, Bubble drummer Tom DeVito suggests taking the songs to the next level and agrees to produce. Tom and Dave continued off-and-on to replace old tracks and embellish with newer tracks in 2003. Bubble bandmate Mark Humble as well as Bubble keyboardist Max Low (then Pep) were brought in to assist. Tom completed final mixing in 2006. After 6 years "Blue Circle" was finally mastered by Fred Smith (Television bassist), pressed and now we're hearing all the music that's been waiting to get inside our ears. We're pleased as punch to report that it's painstaking process has paid off in spades! This is a true pop album - the songs are given various treatments (electronic effects tastefully come in to play at times) - and there are still enough acoustic and crunchy electric guitars to go around to keep this firmly grounded in the kind of pop Bubble were known for! What we really dig about this is the earthy feel that this record has considering all of the embellishments added over the years. Many of the songs have a "live" feel to them which adds to the charm of the proceedings. Boasts solid songwriting throughout. "All My Friends" and "Please Say It's Not So" could've been Squeeze songs! Those two got to us big time! GREAT!!!"
And Absolute PowerPop blogspot wrote... "Excellent singer-songwriter pop from the frontman of Bubble, a beloved NYC power pop band that put out some fine discs around the turn of the century. "One Day" is a wonderful midtempo number that's Neil Finn meets Ron Sexsmith, and the bouncy "Neverending" brings to mind PJ Olsson. Other highlights include the modern beats of "All My Friends" and the lush balladry of "How Are You". Check it out."
So there you go...hopefully this is the start of more raves...I will simply ignore all rejection and indifference..."Blue Circle" will not be deterred from it's rightful place in the pop pantheon.
