Hello loves!
Happy Monday! We hope the weekend was great for each and everyone one of you! It was certainly interesting for us. We are sad to report that our rhythm guitarist, Jay, broke her hand while on a camping trip this weekend. Never fear, planet-eaters! Our good friend, Kevin, has volunteered to help us out for a bit so we don't have to cancel the immediate shows. You may remember Kevin from when he filled in for Tal on bass when we played The Webster Underground last summer. We're stoked that he's willing to help us out so we can continue our list of dates for August.
In related news, we've been very busy playing shows this month. We started out August playing a benefit in New Jersey and then played a battle of the bands a few days later in Manchester, CT. You can add another battle of the bands victory to our list of battle victories. We play the Zen Bar in Plainville (their new location) this Thursday and then a record label showcase in Shelton on Saturday and another battle of the bands in Hamden at the Space for $1,000. The Saturday show is outdoors and free, so if you're in the area please come out and support us.
Speaking of FREE, we're giving away some tickets to the battle of the bands at the Space. There are nine bands on the bill each playing 30 minute sets and we want you to go for free. Just message us and we'll make sure to get you some tickets before Sunday. We've set aside 10 tickets that we're just giving away so get in on this before they're gone. Once they are gone, we have five tickets that we're selling for 1/2 price ($5 each) and once those are gone, we have a stack of tickets available for $10. Tickets at the door will be $12.
Let's, see, aside from band stuffs, what's new with me? Well, I've got a 1986 Gibson Les Paul studio on layaway at Daddy's Junky Music (LOVE that store. It's my #1 choice for gear shopping. Go there, tell them Laura from SEP sent you.) I had it brought in from their Boston location and I expect it to arrive Wednesday. I may have to wait until Friday to go check it out but I'm doing the financially responsible thing this time and putting it on layaway so I'm not putting 100% of my paycheck into it.
I'm also working on a brand new website for us. It's going to be fully interactive and allow "community members" (ie, you guys, our favorite planet-eaters) to create accounts, profiles, blogs, etc. It'll be a pretty rad site. I'm still working on the new graphics but it's coming along. Sara and Matt have seen the header graphics and seem to like it, so I'm excited to finish it up and launch it so everyone can join our Interwebz family.
What else, what else? Hmmm...I don't know. I guess I'm not as exciting as you might wish me to be. I've been playing Caesar IV on my laptop lately. It's a city-building simulation game that takes place in Ancient Rome. I'd been a big fan of Caesar III so when I found Caesar IV I snapped it up. Of course, its a distraction from the other things I should be doing (ie. the band website).
So that's what's new with us. What's new with you?
xoxo ~laura
