LS update... plus last two LS shows (26th,27th June 09)
'Ch ch ch changes - turn and face the strange'...
As some of you may have gathered via slight changes on the Myspace and Facebook LS pages and whispered talk on various Facebook profiles Owen Walton has bid farewell to Luxury Stranger. Owen decided to text over his leaving note last Thursday (25th June 2009) following him texting his inabiltiy to play on the Sunday before (21st June) in Leeds and - see last blog.
Owen's reasons revolve around him being unable to fully commit to Luxury Stranger. Simon and Chris and people surrounding the band wish Owen the best with the path he has before him...
"I can't stand this emotional violence... leave in silence."
- 'Leave in silence', 'A Broken Frame' (Depeche Mode, 1982)
'On+On&OnandOn'...
Following the cancellation of last Sunday's Leeds show with Keys to Machinery and very little word from Owen to say what was happening and shows coming up in days, Simon and Chris recruited Paul Sycamore as a 'stand-in' drummer on Tuesday 22nd June - just in case.
Simon and Chris rehearsed with Paul at Thursday's rehearsal ready for the up and coming two shows in Ilkeston and Derby...
Simon and Chris wish to pass their deepest thanks on to Paul for stepping up at the very last minute and for the energy and effort put in so far.
Revolution! @ The Royal Oak, Ilkeston - 26th June 2009
Wounds were still open and moods were mixed. There was a sense of nervousness from both Luxury Stranger and the large group of fans who came to show strong support during an upsetting time.
The set for the evening was:
Precious for evermore
Elements
Making Becci laugh
Dirt
Where you've gone
On+On&OnandOn
A very emotional and energetic performance. A good start to what's to come...
Luxury Stranger wishes to give thanks to everyone who came to show support and a big thank you to Jake for his work on the DIY LS t-shirt (see the pic in the photos section here on Myspace).
The Vic Inn, Derby - 27th June 2009
Luxury Stranger was invited to play as part of this massive all-dayer in Derby by Gotcha Promotions. A very hot and long day in Derby - flies hovering around the wounds...
The set for the evening was:
Precious for evermore
Elements
Making Becci laugh
Dirt
Where you've gone
- a quote from Oscar Wilde's 'A Picture of Dorian Gray' -
On+On&OnandOn
This performance was once again emotional and energetic - but tonight something clicked. On this night Simon York announced: "This IS Luxury Stranger!"
Luxury Stranger wish to thank Josh at Gotcha Promotions for his understanding and kind words and for putting LS on - LS are looking forward to working with you again soon.
Thanks also go to those who travelled from Nottingham and Ilkeston to show their support.
Very special thanks to those who came from Derby to see/hear LS.
Pics and films from both of these shows can be found here on Myspace, at the LS Facebook and Youtube pages and the official LS website.
"Now I know what those hands would do, No looking back now, were pushing through. Well change these feelings, well taste and see, But never guess how the him would scream." - 'Dreams never end', 'Movement' (New Order, 1981)
