Hey folks its Adam. I am headed into the woods by myself for a couple of weeks to write some songs. Gonna drive out into Appalachia and set up camp out in the middle of nowhere with a tent, fishing pole, guitar, and a lot of paper. I leave tomorrow morning.

I'm doing this because we tour so much that we don't have a lot of time to write. I have noticed that as bands get busier and busier they never leave enough time to themselves to just work on new material- and in the interest of keeping our songs fresh, interesting, and meaningful, I am heading out on my own. I've always written best when I am alone, bored, or lonely. This should hopefully give me a lot of new ideas, and also flush out the many tidbits of songs that have accumulated in my head over the last year or so. When I get back I'll show what I have to the band and they'll pretty much tell me whats good and what Isn't and then we'll go into full time rehearsals. If it works really well- I'll probably go out and do it again!

Anyway- wish me luck - to many songs, plentiful fish, and zero bear-maulings
Adam

oh ps- I think I am gonna bring a camera and maybe a little video unit to document some of the process. Might be cool to have down the line.

Lets hope it doesn't come to this.
Dylan

That is amazing, I cant wait to hear what comes out. You are a very inspiring band

Adam maybe a bear mauling would inspire a cool song. Dont be so negative about bear maulings.... No seriously ill say a prayer for a safe eventful creative trip. God bless and have a good one.

A concept album chronicling the eternal battle between bears and Anthony Hopkins does sound kind of awesome.  Good luck, fine sir.

I hope you write a concept album about a indigenous tree-dwelling community you accidentally stumble across in the sticks.

Eagerly awaiting something new :)

That's pretty fucking awesome that you put yourself in that kind of solitude in order to come up with some great material.  I was floored (by amazement!) from your latest album, I'm in love with it, so this would probably explain why your songs are so good.  You're basically writing from experience.

I'll be expecting another incredible song including ass kicking some large bears....or else ;)

Bear Maulings just add to the whole mistique. Don't go looking for it, but if it feels right just go with it.

While you're there, read Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods". Very humorous!

All the Best Adam!  You guys rocked so hard last time in SF when you played both Red of Tooth and Claw and Who will Surive back to back.  Awesome!  May the peace and beauty of the woods inspire your next great album.  I hope you don't get any rain, but lots of fish!
