Posted here is one of our anthems entitled "Furore Teutonicus" (meaning "The Fury of the Teutons in Latin). This song is about the battle of the Teutoberg Forest (taking place in A.D. 9 probably lasting from Sept. 9 to Sept. 11), the battle that stopped Roman expansion into Germania. Three whole Roman legions (Legion XVI, Legion XVII, and Legion XIX) were ambushed and massacred by Arminius, later named Herman, (son of Segimer of the Cherusci) and the Cherusker and an alliance of germanic tribes. The Romans were the most advanced army at this time. Simple weapons and guerilla tactics, employed by the Teutons, reigned death and destruction upon Varus and his Roman Legions. Survivors of the legion were enslaved, but the majority of the survivors were sacrificed upon altars to the Pagan gods that were worshipped by the Teutons.
