I just got done hangin out with Nathan, the guy who has made me who I am. Some say its out parents, some say our teachers, and both are right. But for me, I think it was the time I stood up to my bully. See Nathan use to beat my ass up after getting of the bus in middle school. It seems like he did it for years, but it probably was just a matter of months. If not an entire school year. I remember fighting back in 7th grade and living in a different house in 8th grade, so it could have been the whole year of 6th grade.
Bare with me as I am far from sober.
We use to play "school yard" football every sunday at a field outside a church. We use to play basketball at then same location with some hot church girls but thats for a whole different blog.
So, this particular sunday, was a typical rainy northwest afternoon. And after the football game, we started a wrestling match. On this particular day, I fought back. All I can remember, 15 years later, is that I grabbed Nate by his legs and threw him on his back. At which time I opted to knee jump on his chest, and subsequently, break a rib. I'm not the only one he bullied, but recently, (yesterday) I found out, I'm the only one to fight him back. Which makes me proud even though it wasn't as severe as I would have liked it. Since my brother Chris, whom always had my back even though I didn't know it, went to Nathans house on a different occasion, knocked on the door, ask "are you Nathan?" and proceeded to kick him in the face. I haven't heard Chris's side of the story but its pretty heroic none the less.
So, who are we, and what makes us who we are? I like to think sports makes children competitive adults, but maybe its a scenario like mine that makes people stand up for themselves, for the duration of their life.
Regardless, I luv ya Nate, I'm glad we are the best of friends. Though it is strange that I am friends with my childhood bully, who made me who I am, god has a reason for everything. So if I become something, one day, I will have you to thank.
On another note, god has a way of pointing us in the direction we are intended to go. I wasn't sure about god's existence until a spirit told me so through a ouija board, after god made my bully and I best friends, strange how he operates huh?
Anyways, I'm drunk, just got pulled over, but didn't get a DUI. And I was the coolest and calmest I've ever been. Plus it doesn't hurt to do what Ludacris says, "Keep mustard in ya car god damn it." Though I was suckin' on a penny, that seems to work too!
