As most of you know, music makes up about half my life, with the other part being consumed entirely by film.  From acting, writing, directing and now I am pleased to announce the World Premiere of a feature film I recently edited: Rivers Wash Over Me.

Directed by John G. Young. Produced by Darien Sils-Evans. Written by Darien Sils-Evans and John G. Young.
Director of Photography Robert Ansbro. Edited by Stephen Thomas.
Rivers Wash Over Me
(USA, 2009, 83 minutes)

A gay NYC teen faces devastating challenges when he’s sent to live with family in the South. Racial and sexual politics take their toll on a family, and ultimately a community, in this unique and powerful drama about coming to terms with oneself against terrible odds.

The film will premiere Saturday, 6 June, 2009 as The Centerpiece Film of The NewFest in New York City at 8 p.m.  NewFest film guide.

It will also debut in San Francisco on 24 June and in Los Angeles 11 July.

I will certainly be attending the New York City premiere and hope you can make it.  For those of you not near any of those cities, stay tuned as I'll be updating information as to where and when the film will be playing.

You can also see more about the film on IMDB.

Wishing you all well!  Treacle wells, to be precise!

I will certainly keep you posted on the availability of the film.  As LOGO is one of the main sponsors of this event, the producers are hopeful of broadcast on that channel, and looking for further theatrical and DVD releases.

Best wishes on your health.  I have seen first hand how the right spirit can be a great force in helping to fight this disease.

hey Stephen, one of Janie's gay friends here...she pimped, I visited! lol the film looks good.  Did you edit the trailer as well? great job! Good luck in your film career! At one point, I really wanted to edit film trailers but never quite got the connections/big break for that. I'm gonna friend request you, hope you don't mind.. have a great weekend and I hope the film will have a great showing!

Yes, I have seen you on Janie's blogs.  Thanks for following the pimp!

Thank you, I did edit the trailer also.  Yes, for 2 careers I certainly chose from the harder-to-get-into pile, but I'd rather hike uphill than meander on a flat course.

I happened to fall into this project in a round-about way, but one thing I might recommend is if you know any film students, offer to cut a trailer from their film projects.  They will be happy to have it and begin showing it to everyone they know, thus promoting you as an editor.

Thanks, Pete.  It's been a long, long road from Freeman Hall to here.
