Well in case you haven't heard,
Lobster Newberg is going on an
indefinite hiatus. Things aren't really working out, and we've all
decided that we'd be happier if we moved on. Luckily I'll still be
working with Jim Peterik on occasion and his session musicians. Who
knows what will happen within that realm. Good news is that Corey, Phil
and I have all decided to keep playing together. We've formed a new
project called
Big Rubber Band,
which is actually way cool. It's hard to explain the genre of music
that we're going for. Just know that it's very experimental and
exciting, encompassing ALL aspects and influences from each of us.
We'll be performing everything from funk to indie rock to metal to all
out killer rock music. Expect to hear more from that in the future.
The other good news is that I've finally decided to take my Jamie Dull
solo music to the next level, and give it full throttle! I'm currently
working on putting together a full band, that will be working full
time. In addition to working full time with
Big Rubber Band,
you can expect to see me performing live in all the regular Chicago
clubs within the upcoming months with a full lineup behind me. I plan
to release another album in the near future, which will hopefully
include collaborations from the new musicians I'll be working with.
I'll have more news on that in the future. Just be excited!
Now I'm kind of planning to just start with a clean slate music wise.
All of the music I've been writing over the years has been fun, but I
feel I haven't hit my peak with my writing potential yet, and with the
addition of new musicians to write with, I'm sure the music will turn
into something wonderful. So I'll probably not be playing any songs
that are up here on the website, except maybe one or two ("
Storm"
anybody?), however I'm looking forward to seeing what will develop. Not
to mention the fact that the collaborations with Phil and Corey for
Big Rubber Band are going well. This time around the three of us can write what we want with no limits involved. It's a great feeling.
So anyway, that is where I currently stand. I'll be playing drums for
Big Rubber Band,
but I'm also in the process of lining up a band for my solo music as
well. Can't wait to see you out at the shows! Oh and keep checking back
here on my website. I'll hopefully have new music up for you sooner
than later!
