The Old Wharf, Digbeth, BirminghamBased on an idea Mr. Mark White of WARLORD UK wished to put into action led to a grand total of £242.00 being raised on the night for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Ward 15 (Cancer Unit). Mark sees these children almost every day and it’s a charity very close to his heart. Mark invited the bands- SPREAD THE VENOM, HATEWORK CONSPIRACY, MINDLESS TORTURE and GRIMPEN MIRE. They all played their sets with an extreme passion with the thoughts of the cause always on their minds, and a heartfelt speech from MINDLESS TORTURE almost had every person in the room in tears. Pounding metal and sheer determination brought the night to a climax when the room was crammed full for the astounding performance from WARLORD UK. Our friends at PMT, Professional Music Technology in Birmingham donated a beautiful Eastcoast Acoustic Guitar as the main prize for the raffle. This was deservedly won by Bill, an avid and long time supporter of Metal music. Top Rock Radio donated a piercing voucher. They’re very good friends of ours whom we work hand in hand with here in Birmingham, and give an excellent service of radio promotion for our gigs at The Old Wharf. Mrs. J the producer also gave us no end of help throughout the night, while DJ Beerman covered the Sonic Rock Solstice Festival in Wales. A selection of WARLORD UK merchandise and a voucher from Laura’s Motor Bike Shop also boosted the fundraising. Thanks to Danielle, Sam and Laura for running the raffle. A grand job! GOGI’S of Coventry Road, Small Heath in Birmingham asked if they could help, and generously donated a large selection of Indian cuisine for the band members. We visit GOGI’S frequently, usually between 3-4am along with the Beerman and Mrs. J after our Saturday night gigs at The Old Wharf. Our favourite late night eating hole J Chris Hand did another quality job of working the sound desk. To Chelle, Dave and Jack as always, you all ROCK! It was great to see Chop at The Old Wharf for the first time. A review should be through in a few days. And finally, to all the fine people that came along to support the bands and the cause. Thanks to all that donated, sponsored and supported the event and to those that gave so generously for the kids on Ward 15 of the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
