Hi

The 24th Annual Tarbert Music Festival will now take place from 18th to 20th September 2009. N.B - Note Change of dates

Artists - If you want to apply to play either in the main 2009 festival or
the Open Stage please read the
following carefully!!!

Hi
firstly I just do the website and provide a mailing address. I have no say in
who is chosen to play. If you have questions after reading the blog feel free to
send them and I will pass them on to the committee - but we get lots of messages
and can't possibly answer all of them.
Bands / artists who want to play at the Festival in 2009 ...
Main Festival (i.e artists get paid ...)
When the committee meet (meetings start about April and run all the way
through to September when the Festival happens) they select bands based on cds
that are submitted.
This is the only type of submission they
will accept. MP3 CDs are acceptable.
Changes to the line up can
happen up to the last minute.
If you want to apply you can send one to me at the address below at any time
and I will ensure they get it. All types of music are considered. We do get
quite a few cds and the committee are only likely to listen to one track unless
they really, really like you. Then, and only then are they likely to listen to
more or look at your website/ myspace/ youtube etc.
Then successful bands are contacted by the secretary and offered a contract
if we can agree terms (like most festivals we are always short of funds). At
this time we can also discuss accommodation, meals PA requirements etc., which
are included for main festival artists.
- unfortunately we can't return anything and unsuccessful groups don't
even get a reply. (sorry).

Whilst we have featured bands and artists from many parts of the world, this
has only occurred because they have happened to be in the UK at the time. We are
only a small village festival and cannot afford to meet international travel
costs.
The Open Stage (Unpaid but still Official!)
We usually (circumstances allowing) operate an open stage on the Saturday
Afternoon of the Festival, where new acts can show of their talent. Places are
usually taken up quickly by local young people, who are given priority, but folk
from all over have appeared - If you want to play on the Open Stage drop me an
e-mail at tarbert.festival@dsl.pipex.com - no promises though.
Bands / artists who just want to play acoustically (i.e have a jam / session
...)
Lots of bands and artists just come along for the chance to meet and play
acoustically in jams / sessions with others from practically everywhere - feel
free to turn up. The festival is mostly free and is paid for by local
traders.
Most of the venues welcome jams and session at times when there is no gig on,
although sometimes they are also serving food and so please ask the bar staff
before starting - some even have separate areas that musicians use. There are
also lots of benches round the harbour and outdoor beer gardens if it is
dry.
Accommodation
The committee only provide accommodation for artists booked to play in the
Main Festival.
Accommodation usually gets booked up very quickly (often year to year), but
there is lots of open space for camping locally (no fires please and leave the
place as you found it!).
we are not responsible for the venues for the rest of the year. if artists
want to contact the hotels individually, details are in the accommodation
section of the web site at http://www.tarbertmusicfestival.com/
