I can't believe this - he will be greatly missed.

Mr Farmer was a fantastic writer who had a huge influence on me, both as a writer and a humanitarian.

He knew NO boundaries. There will never be another like him, but that doesn't mean we've heard the last of him! He's probably just now crawling out of his pod on a new plane of existence, ready to begin his new life.

I'll miss you, Mr Farmer, sir, now that you are exploring whatever comes after death.
Maybe the Riverworld, like you wrote, or something like it where you can meet your heroes?

You were and still are one of my heroes.

I'll miss you.

I stumbled upon Philip Jose Farmer when I found out that he, not Kurt Vonnegut, wrote, "Venus on the Half Shell." I outgrew Vonnegut at 18 but 50 books and 30 years later, Farmer's still on my reading list. See you on the bank of the River, Phil.

A friend of mine told me of Mr. Farmers passing and it was like a slap in the face. I was first turned on to Mr. Farmers writing when he wrote "Doc Savage his apocalyptic life". His writing was so detailed that I believed that Doc and other pulp heroes did at one time walk the earth.

Thank you Mr. Farmer for sharing your dreams.

I just found out, not being one to pay too much attention to the news, and am really quite saddened by Phil's passing. Without question my favorite sci fi author, one whose many dog eared titles are proudly displayed on my shelf for all to see.

Hopefully he woke up somewhere up/down river with a new grail in hand, ready for the next adventure.
