Who Gives Kudos:

I am very sad that I have received several messages from members of the gay community in regards to distancing themselves from this project because of the Church's stand on gay rights. I personally do not support the church in their decision of their involvement in Prop 8 - I personally gave money to the No on 8 fund. It makes me sad that they did what they did, and equally as sad that individuals of the gay community are acting just as prejudice to Mormons in general because of this.

This project was intended to find common ground regardless of race, religion and lifestyle. For the gay community to black list this project is just as prejudice and intolerant as those who worked and voted to take away gay rights in California.

Men on a Mission is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In fact, I was excommunicated for spearheading this project. I personally know what it feels like to be attacked by an organization for expressing who I am. Please do not put salt on the wound by turning your back on this project because of your knee-jerk reactions.

Those who boycott us are picking a fight with the very people who are here to be your friend and build bridges and mend the gaps and hurt. The project is intended to be fun and light-hearted. We have appeared in many gay publications around the world and support all our brothers and sisters regardless of what makes us different. We celebrate the diversity in our world.

If you want to continue to fight to separate yourself from others based on stereotype and gross generalization, then you are just as guilty as those who voted to take away your rights in November.

Not all Mormons hate gays. Not all Mormons want to pick a fight with the gay community. Please, judge individuals by their actions, not an entire group by their leaders' actions.

The hate needs to stop on both sides of the fence.

Peace.

CHAD HARDY

I wasn't aware of any hate. I don't live under a rock either. I have been a member of the church all of my life. I was always taught to love everyone and I do. I have many gay friends, both male and female. They know I am LDS and we have talked about this situation. Everyone has the opportunity to voice their opinions. The constitution gives us that right. We also have the right to live the way we want to. Church members made up about 4% of the California vote. Prop 8 was all about a HUGE group of people expressing their opinions...oddly enough, the majority voted the same way the small group of LDS people voted. The church has a right to make a stand for families, just as everyone else has the right to voice their opinions and express the way they feel. As I said. I was always taught at church to love everyone...and I do. Lets learn to love our differences and appreciate the value of each person.

The only thing that the Church did was stand up for "their" kind of family, not families in general. Let us not forget that the Church doesn't even treat their own families with equality.

I love my Church , I was just was embarassed by its interference in the politics of a state.

You could not have said it better; I too love my Church but have been embarrassed by it's interference.

We must never forget that the "church/gospel" and the "people" are two different things. The Lord has set guidelines/rules/commandments or whatever you want to call them. We choose what we will do. We always have that choice. I'm sorry you were embarrassed. Other faiths have jumped on worldly contentions. The Catholic church takes a lot of flack when they take a stand that is different from the norm. But again, we in the end make the choice of what we personally are going to do. The "church" and the general authorities do not make any one do anything. We either choose to follow the gospel as the Lord has set it up, or we choose not to. I have never been embarrassed to live the gospel. As I stated earlier, I have many wonderful friends who are gay (of both sexes) who I have worked with, dined with and embraced as good people. They are a part of my life, just as my non-gay, non-member friends. We accept each others beliefs and the right to believe and practice them. We are over the hurdles that separate us and have found common ground. There is no hate...only respect and love. Which is what the Lord teaches in His gospel.

It has been a very sad time! I was brought up to Believe their is only ONE JUDGE! and everyone will meet that Judgement Day, all the hurt currently in this world of ours and some have to create even more bad feeling!

It is quite sad if the gay community has made the choice to black list this project based a perception of affiliation.

Please don't boycott Chad's project, people! You're just causing more hatred and division. Coming from a LDS family, I know Mormons who have prejudices against gays and those who don't. It's no different amongst my non-Mormon friends. I am absolutely dead set against any legislation that takes away people's rights and I know Chad feels the same way.

Organized religion needs to get a clue when it comes to just loving and accepting everyone and minding their own business.
Do you think it could ever be a reality?!?

I agree...except that I know MORE non-Mormons who have prejudices against gays than those who really practice and live the gospel. As far as Organized religion and getting a clue...the gospel, as I was taught, teaches just that. To love and accept everyone. I was taught that and I believe that.

I think Chad's project is quite intriguing and have thought so from the start...and I have told him so.

And you are normal.....

If we all spent our energy on supporting one another instead of tearing each other down, our world would be such a better place. We are the generation who can make the change. I have tried and will continue to raise my children not to hold any predjustice, regardless.
This starts at home!

When someone tries to knock you down I applaud the fact you dust yourself off and keep going for what you believe in.
That my dear is what God expects from all of us! Thanks for being you!

I'm with you. And Mormons sure aren't the only religious people who donated to Prop 8. Mainly African-American Baptist churches, Catholic churches with a lot of Latin people, etc. I think the anger has been aimed at Mormons so the anger wouldn't be seen as racist.

I dont have the calendar YET but I'm going to get it.
