Current mood:  artistic

It’s been so long since I blogged, I don’t even know if I remember how. Here we go: move fingers across the keyboard, letters form words…yes! I think I’ve got it.

Actually, I’ve been moving my fingers across the keyboard A LOT these days, just not for blogging purposes. I’m frantically trying to finish revisions on my next Young Adult novel (working title: Babe in Boyland). I go back to teaching at the end of this week and that means super long hours right here, working like hell to make this book shine.

Revision is always my manic time, during which I have two settings: “I’m a genius!” and “I suck and want to die!” Believe me, I’m not a fun person to hang out with during these periods.

But, revisions aside, we have several things to celebrate, and to do so I intend to give away some books. Here’s what I’m happy about at the moment:

1) Triple Shot Bettys in Love, the sequel to Confessions of a Triple Shot Betty, is out January 22nd.

2) I installed a punching bag in my writing room. I even have real boxing gloves! It’s incredible. No better way to work out the old revision frustrations than shattering your knuckles on a seventy pound bag.

So here’s the deal: I’m offering free signed copies of the Betty Box Set: Confessions of a Triple Shot Betty and the sequel (not in stores for another week or so) Triple Shot Bettys in Love. All you have to do is leave me a comment here to enter. Any sort of comment will do, but I’d love to hear what you do to take out your frustrations.

great contest! I have read confessions of a triple shot betty but would love to read Triple shote bettys in love.
When I am frustrated, I have a few things that I do:
* talk to friends(with a good cup of tea/frappucino/ice cream/cookies)
* read a book , that always calmes my nerves and every frustration is forgotten in a while when I do that!
* write for my blog
*watch a classic(as in Audrey Hepburn, West Side Story, My Fair Lady) movie.
(but only with tea/hot chocolate/ice cream/cookies)
*put on a cd with music that calmes me or make me dance around the room!
best,
Marjolein

I'm so happy to hear about the new book! :D I'm excited now!

And, to take out my frustrations, I write, listen to music really loud while dancing and/or cleaning, or I just call up a friend or make my fiance listen to me talk (or yell) about whatever is upsetting me.

Good luck with revisions!!

I used to eat. One of my new year resolutions though, is to NOT eat for emotional reasons. So when I take out my frustrations in the future, I want to exercise.

God, thanks everyone for your ideas! This is better than therapy. I think I'm really slacking on the loud music thing. I'm going to try that next time.

I clean. It's weird. I don't decide "I'm frustrated so I'm going to mop the floor." No, instead I find myself mopping the floor while gowling about my frustration. Rick says he can tell when I'm rattled because I start cleaing the house.

Otherwise, if I'm hunting for something to burn off steam, I go for a long walk while listening to Pearl Jam or Punk on my Ipod.

When I'm irked, I stay up late, drink a little rum, and write whatever I feel like at that given point in time.

It's as someone famous probably said once upon a midnight dreary...
"Write drunk, copyedit sober.

I completely agree with you!
Beating out your frustrations is the best way!
Like wise, to take out my frustrations i generally go to my TaeKwonDo school and work out.

I love to kick things!

To take out my frustrations I usually listen to music extremely loud (through headphones of course) or sometimes even sometimes scream in to a pillow. I get frustrated sooo often what with taking college classes, working, and being a mother.
My life is crazy nutso! I'd love to win the Betty Box set! :D

The date you posted this blog (the 12th) was my girls' second birthday! I can't believe my twin girls are 2 years old now! And what's even crazier is that my cousin is having twin girls now.
She's about to have them any day now!

Sorry for the loooong comment.
Haha

I usually just take a pill haha... Or go to sleep [which requires another pill Ambien] WoW I sound like a pill head!!! Just kidding... Well not about the Ambien though, thank God for those or I wouldn't sleep for days...
Seriously though, reading, taking a nap, wine [as stated before] is really relaxing for me

Usually I write, which is funny since writing is what your frustrations are. I love to read so if I'm frustrated or upset and writing just wont cut it sometimes I'll take a book and drive down by the river and park.
Sometimes (like around sunset) I do it when I'm not frustrated at all :)

Oh, and sometimes I bake. Except I wouldn't reccomend that one because then I have to find people to give all my baked goods away to so I don't get fat lol.

However, primal screaming always works too ;)

Ani does me right when I'm mad, too. Maybe I'll try turning her up and wailing on the punching bag at the same time. Ohh, now that's therapeutic.

Nineteen days into my role as a Resolutionist, I've been walking away stress (and a few pounds!) on the treadmill.
But we do have a heavy bag in the garage--I may have to give that a try! :O)
