How's about sharing he bill with a Number One recording artiste and legend?

Well, we just did that last night, when we played right in the middle of Maidenhead, alongside the living legend that is Mr rolf Harris! The Rolfster performed the ceremonial switch on, and gave the crowds 30 minutes of music and laughs,  then we stepped on stage to warm the cold evening ai with an hour's worth of loudness!

Riser to the occasion!

Maidenhead-based covers band Riser will add a touch of musical magic when they perform at the town's Christmas lights switch-on in the High Street on Friday November 23.

Fresh from the successful Fireworks and Fun charity event at Maidenhead United FC earlier this month – where they proved a huge hit – the foursome will entertain the audience after TV presenter and Bray resident Rolf Harris switches on the lights.

Riser replaces another local band, the Velvet Hearts, who had to bow out when they were offered a recording contract in Detroit, USA.

Town manager Steph James said: "While I was thrilled to hear the Velvet Hearts have landed such an exciting opportunity, it did of course leave me with a gap to fill. It was really fortunate that a band of the calibre of Riser were available at such short notice.

"Their performance at the Magpies' ground proves what great crowd-pleasers they are. As a cover band they play music that people know and can sing along to, from the Small Faces and the Doobie Brothers through to Keane and the Foo Fighters.

"Anyone who missed their fireworks show should make sure to catch them at the Christmas lights event."

Other attractions on the night include Newlands Girls School orchestra and big band, which will play before the switch-on, and an Italian market selling a wide range of cheeses, meats, olives and more until 8pm.

Riser are a relatively new presence on the Berkshire live music circuit and play a wide range of modern and classic hits. For further information on the band visit www.riser-live.com
