I've set up this MySpace page for Isaiah Owens because I think he's someone who really deserves a wider audience. Bringing Isaiah to NYC (a collaborative effort by Kevin Nutt, Steven Joerg, Adam Lore and myself) was a revelation for everyone involved. It was the first time in the City and the first plane trip for Isaiah. I'm not absolutely sure, but the WFMU Record Fair was probably the first time he'd seen a kid with a candy-colored mohawk as well. Isaiah gave two great performances for enthusiastic audiences at Barbes in Brooklyn, heaping a big portion of tent revival into a Park Slope night spot. After one of the shows, a young guy excitedly explained to Isaiah that he'd listened to tons of blues records and that Isaiah was "the real shit", to which Isaiah smiled and thanked him in gentlemanly fashion. Isaiah told us he'd learned a lot from playing in New York and indeed, I think his performances have become more cohesive and even more powerful. Besides that, Isaiah is a truly great guy who's a pleasure to spend time with for anyone fortunate enough to to have the opportunity.

Now that I'm living back in Alabama, I'm hoping to set up some live appearances for him in the Southeast. Stay tuned for updates.

Thanks - Sylvia Parker

Hi Sylvia,

I am so happy to see that you have a site for Mr. Owens. Actually, I just email him to see if I could possibly
get a copy of one of his early LP's with The Flying Clouds of Montgomery Alabama- titled: The Semon on the Mout. Mr. Owens sang lead on this title cut. I've always loved this album but during the years my
only copy was lost. I would love to have this album in my collection again. Maybe you could possible give me
a referral because Mr. Owens is more that likely busy performing or recording. I would appreciate your assistance very much.

Mr. Owens has the kind of voice that stays with you. A voice you can't forget. His range and delivery
are absolutely fantastic!!! There is only 1 Isaiah Owens with a voice like that - smooth, soulful and rivers of feeling. Warms yours heart and just make you want to listen and listen and listen.

I am so glad he is still singing for us all

Presently, I'm living in Oakland, Ca and i go by the name Oteino.
(via Poughkeepise, NY/Staten Island...)

Also, I'm working a book about my 45 years in the music business. My career started in Tallapoosa County,
Alexander City, Alabama. My original name (or given name...) Larry Walton.
Briefly, I've know Mr. Owens a number of years. In fact, we have been on the same bill a number of times
in the early years (1960's). During that time I was organist for The CMB Gospel Singers. The would be concerts featuring for example: The Flying Clouds of Milbrook (later-Montgomery, Al), The Friendly Brothers,
The CMB Gospel Singers. Actually, around 1968 the guitarist for the Flying Clouds played organ or
The CMB Gospel Singers first single - It's only Jesus and The last passovere - on Savoy label MGM.
This was a few months before i joined the group (The CMB's) - I was about hmmm 13 years old...
Presently, working on compositions to be released independently (home recordings) Pro tools Studio Singer/Songwriter/Keyboardist.
Presently at CD baby - Oteino : Music Art Life 1st 4 song EP

I thank you for your time and if I can be of any assistance please let me know. It's a small world.
I really hope I hear for you. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Oteino
