OK, so I've been busy. Or I've been a slacker. Your call on that one.

Anyway...

Nearly two weeks ago on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, an event occurred that can easily be classified as life-changing. I popped the question, and she said "yes!"

Here's how it happened:

I had told two of my closest friends, Jason and Joey, that I had planned on proposing on that day. Joey, who is on staff at Disneyland, offered to be there to take pictures when I did it. He would eventually go above and beyond that.

We had planned to go to Disneyland at some point during the week. Wednesday was the chosen day. I think Kristin was probably suspicious that something was going down, so I tried to keep my cool. She had actually suggested that we go to a late lunch at the Blue Bayou in Disneyland, so she made a reservation and that's how our trip started. We had a wonderful time. I'm pretty sure that she was expecting me to do it then, so when we left the restaurant without a proposal, she just thought to herself, "not today, I guess." She would be wrong.

After we got out of the restaurant, she asked me what I wanted to do. I (apparently a bit too quickly) said, "Space Mountain. We always go on it first; it's tradition." My quick response made her suspicious, but she didn't think much of it. We waited in line for the ride and were given the front row. I had asked for our own car, but evidently they don't do that. Front row was good enough.

Anyone who has ever ridden Space Mountain knows that they take a picture of you while you're on the ride and offer to sell it to you when you get off the ride. I knew this, and I also knew the exact moment that they take the picture because of the flash. Right before the picture was taken, I pulled out the ring box and held it open in Kristin's direction, then quickly put it back in my pocket after the flash went off. I was later told that my heart was pounding out of my chest right before, during, and after the ride.

We went to look at the picture as usual. Kristin spotted our picture and went to look at it, noticing something conspicuous in my hand. She promptly said, "What? Wait, what?" in a very confused manner. At this point, I put my arms on her and said, "Kristin, you know I love you very much. Living every day over the past year has been like dreaming with my eyes open. So, I just have one more thing to say (as I dropped to a knee and opened the ring box): Kristin Nicole Moore, will you marry me?"

Her face lit up. Her hands covered her mouth. The tears started to fall. She fell into my arms and said a very muffled "yes" into my chest, which I never heard. She remained there for a minute and then pulled away so I could put the ring on her hand. I then said, "So, do I get an answer?" She promptly fired back with "Yes! Yes!"

I put the ring on her hand as Joey snapped some pictures. When we went to buy the pictures from the ride, Joey bought them for us, which was amazing. We then posed for a few pictures, both on the spot and in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle. Joey then told us that he had reserved private boats for us on Storybook Land and Small World. He also reserved a bench at the Main Street train station for us for the fireworks show.

Quite an amazing day. Please see my photo album titled "Engaged!" for pictures from the event.

Special thanks to Joey for making it an even more incredible day.

All apologies to anyone that I didn't call and who had to find out this way. However, I hope you'll understand that I had quite a few calls to make.

Kristin, I love you and I'm thrilled that we get to spend the rest of our lives together.

I really wanted it to say "We're engaged, thanks to Joey and no thanks to Jason." Oh well.
