WOW, it's been awhile. I thought for sure that my next blog would be a grand gesture of some type, like a handwritten, scanned letter to the faithful LDogs, or a video blog. Both of these things are in my blogging future, as there are many things to fill you in on, and the written language just wouldn't suffice, honestly.
I guess this is just a way for me to NOT be all or nothing with my communication. HELLO! I'm Leslie, and I've been really freaking busy... A little too busy for adequate computer time.
I'm in the studio with a singer/songwriter named Jimmy Dailydis, and we've been working on his 18 track record since October. I'm singing on it, but I'm also producing the vocals, which entails coaching Jimmy throughout the sessions, editing the tracks that we record and arranging the songs. His songs are very beautiful, and the band sounds great. It's an earthy, raw, mellow record, and I can't wait to share it with you!
DISTRICT 97 is also in the studio, and I'm about halfway done with recording my vocals. The record is sounding incredible so far, and I look forward to introducing you to some crazy-ass progressive metal, 'cause it's hot as hell! We packed Martyrs when we played there last month. People are really hip to the D97, let me tell ya. It's been such a great outlet for my ridiculous amounts of performing energy. My voice has gotten crazy strong since I joined the band, too. Let's here it for a band with benefits! Ok... Weird.
Oh, and let me just tell you that The Rikters asked me to appear on THEIR full-length record, so I'm going into the studio with them on Sunday. They are the ultimate power trio, the songs are freaking awesome, they are incredible musicians, and they are my best friends. I couldn't be happier to be making a guest appearance! Check them out in my top friends, yo.
Let's see, what else... My dog is really cute and fluffy, my couch is bright orange, and my record isn't going to be available in April like I thought. When the artwork is done, I'm going to spend some time getting it reviewed, 'cause most respectable music critics won't review a record that is out already.
"Look, mom! I learned something about the music industry!"
More news to come... Stay tuned for that video blog! You'll want to be sitting down for that one!
XOXO all OVER the damn place,
-Leslie
P.S. I'll be 27 on Monday. I soooo prefer odd numbers, don't you?
