The London Symphony Orchestra announces the final stage of an innovative commissioning project giving three UK based composers – normally aged under 40, with some experience of writing for a symphony orchestra – the opportunity to work with the LSO.
The UBS Soundscapes: Pioneers series will comprise of three, 5-minute commissions for the 2010/11 season developed by composers working directly with the Orchestra. The composers selected will be given the chance to hear their piece in an open workshop. This will give successful applicants a chance to adjust their ideas and orchestrations prior to the premiere at the Barbican.
