For some of you, this producer/songwriter thing came as a surprise.

I’ve always wanted to be behind the scenes….ALWAYS. I know you’re saying, "well if you wanted to be behind the scenes, then why the F@%* would you audition for a reality show? Why’d you audition for a boy band?" Well, to answer that…..

A) I needed a foot in the music business door. mission accomplished…a big ass foot got wedged up in the door.

B) Making the Band documented the making of a music group and I’m a pretty good singer/dancer. I mean, at least my mom thinks so. I was strictly a singer/dancer on MTB, which is perfect for a music group but if you’re casting a reality tv show….they want the drama beeotch. MTB w/out the singing & dancing would just be the REAL WORLD, right? And there is no way in hell that I would ever get cast on the REAL WORLD.

FUN FACT: before I auditioned for MTB, I sent in an audition tape to the REAL WORLD. It was so out of character for me and it truly would’ve have been a disaster! This is the true story of 6 strangers and 1 recluse who has never drank or smoked, is afraid of crowds, and enjoys quiet nights alone channel surfing.

Btw, I might’ve sucked on the REAL WORLD but lemme go on the record and say I would’ve kicked ass on the RW/RR GAUNTLET CHALLENGE thingy that they got now PERIOD

TOTALLY RANDOM QUESTION: Is it necessary to put the actual punctuation "." after ending the phrase with the emphatic word "PERIOD" ??? You tell me.

C) I thought that being on a reality show would be kinda cool. Well all I can say to that is…I was dead wrong. It’s cool for some people but it sucked for me. The performing, recording, singing, dancing, and traveling was me. The reality show, the interviews, and the photoshoots were not a good look.

D) I thought I could be entertaining on television. We were but I wasn’t. Go back and check your MTB archives…..i was hardly ever on that show and that was the way I wanted it. The 4 other dudes in O-town carried me through that TV show picking up my slack. We all got paid the same tho, SUCKAS…..LOL. Bottom line, I’m boring!

E) How hard can it be to be comfortable on camera? Uh, really hard for me! On stage, I was comfortable. The recording studio, comfortable. The tour bus, comfortable (those beds are bomb). On camera, Not so much.

So in closing, I’m gonna be doing this producer thing for a long time so get used to it baby! I’ll never have a another reality show…..and nobody would ever ask my boring ass to do one again!
Darita Bonita

That's cool you're "boring" cuz that makes you a real person and not into all the attention that a reality show brings. Despite you not being on MTB very often, you were my favorite; you were my favorite on the albums as well.

I wish you well doing the producer thang!

Peace and Love~

When I was in high school, I used to ALWAYS say I wanted to audition for the real world. I even wanted to do it once I turned 18, but then I don't know... these last few seasons it just seems they purposely only recruit the most sexual, wild, alcoholic, violent people ever. And personally... that's just not my scene hence why I now only watch the RW/RR challenges and not the actual shows.

PS: Don't tell me to check my MTB archives because really you're just giving me an excuse to bust out the tapes. Oh yeah I have all three seasons. I won't get rid of those things for anything.

I don't think that it makes you "boring". I think it makes you unique and a true and honest person. I LOVE to sing... In my room or the shower. And although some people have had the pleasure to hear me, lol. They tell me I'm good. I should do karaoke... But I'm not like that. I'm a very quiet gal too. Theres only one person who knows my crazy wild side... And I'm marrying him on Friday. :) :) Woot.

I want to wish you luck with the song writing and the producing.

I loved you on MTB and in OTown. :) You guys were Waaay better than Nsync, BSB, and 98 degrees! :)

Good luck Dan!

Priceless! I was going to do that as well, but I was too boring for them and was happy that way. You have more guts than I do 'cause you won't see me on a MTB type of show either..lol. Doing the photoshoot for my boss was hard. I didn't realize how in your face they get with a camera. *shivers* I told her I don't want to be famous, but I want to be known as a good producer/writer among my peers in the industry.... and own a label AND baseball team. Is that more or less what you are going for? Minus owning a major and the baseball team?

Anyway, I can accept you not ever, ever, EVER doing another reality show... ever. How about some small non-televised albums/tours like you did before? Alone and Move The Sun still rock my socks. =)

It's funny because people who think they are "boring" usually aren't. I enjoy watching reality TV only because I am drama free so I guess it is the only way I "get" drama in my life. I know I wouldn't get cast on any of those shows either.

I think when you say "period" in a sentence it looks better like. "This is the best song! Period!"

Awesome blog. I didn't think you sucked on MTB tho... it caused a little bit of drama that you never wanted to go out. :). Plus you never seemed like you were acting like some of the guys (ahem, Ashley, ahem) did. I'm glad that you've found a home in producing/songwriting, but it makes me sad if that means we're not going to hear you sing anymore. Oh, and as an English major I must inform you that a punctuation mark (in this case a period) is always necessary to mark the end of a sentence, even if the last word of that sentence is period. Love you Dan!

Dan...you are so much more entertaining than you give yourself credit for. I enjoy watching you on TV. You are not boring...well let me rephrase that...if you're boring, that means I'm boring, and I'm not ready to admit that just yet! Seriously though...I really did enjoy watching you on MTB. Loved every minute of it...kinda the only reason I watched it! But you are a good song writer too, so if that's your "nitch"...go for it. (The producing side too.) You'll be good and successful at whatever you chose! Take care, be safe, and peace out.

Peace out,
TRISHA

I think your blog is cool but you don´t have to explain why you did something like that!!! If you wouldn`t have done that you wouldn´t be the person you are right now! Sometimes you have to do things you dont´t really like to get forward in life and I think you did in the way you did MTB! I hope you are happy now but I would be if you don`t stop singing!!! Take care! Julia

To answer your TOTALLY RANDOM QUESTION. You don't need to put quotation marks around the word PERIOD as long as you write in in capital letters. You emphasize the word with it already so you don't need to do it more with setting it in quotation marks. At least that's what I know, or better yet I do in my stories.

As for the other stuff. I'd never guess you were uncomfortable in front of the camera, I always had the feeling you had a serious problem with crowds, I mean it even was mentioned in MTB once that you had a problem standing alone on stage, but hey, at least you got what you wanted out of it. Even if I somehow think you paid a high prize for it.

btw. I don't think you're boring at all, always read your new blogs as soon as I see them pop up on my page. It's totally something new to read about what you thought about your time in a boy band and show us what it was really like and not how they portrayed it in the media and on MTV.

Keep up your quite entertaining blogs ;)

You were pretty much the only one who didn't make an ass of himself on tv. You didn't storm off a photo shoot because the photog said "show me sexay"

You were the professional.

People have been telling me since I was 14 that I am boring. I lost a boyfriend because I was boring. But I enjoy being boring. I must tell you though you are extremely funny. I don't blame you for hating the camera. Have fun and enjoy whatever brings you happiness even if that means we don't get to see you handsome face anymore.

hey dan. this blog was pretty honest. I was looking at all the comments and I noticed that I'm one of the only guys on here. Well anyways, I enjoyed you on making the band. I'm sure you're probably tired of hearing stuff about MTB, so i'm sorry haha. Your voice is great so you shouldn't completely stop recording. I along with the rest of the people here didn't think that you were boring. I'm just glad that you're finally doing what you really wanna do. I still bust out my MTB tapes from time to time and youtube it every once in a while. Good Luck with your beats and producing. Oh a quick question, what made you stay in CA and not go back home?

Dan I hope the producing/songwriting thing is going well for you. I always thought you had a great voice and danced very well. But it is all about what makes you happy. It's your life and you you got to live it, right? I believe the answer to your random question is yes you would put a "." behind PERIOD.

Hmm..well, you're probably never going to read this, but I guess I'll say it anyway.

Dan, you're so funny. You're just great, so down to earth and likeable. I'm glad I read the blog. It let me see who were as a person, get into your thoughts a little. All your chronological reasons made sense by the way.

If you're still looking to answer that random question, I believe technically you're supposed to put a period after writing period, even if most grammar checkers will say that is it a fragment.

Last, I wish you the best in being the kind of producer you're striving for. You definitely deserve it.

Sincerely, Tina
