In two and a half weeks, I'll be playing a small gig at Duane Park, in the TriBeCa neighborhood of New York City, my second annual performance as part of
Make Music New York. And I do mean
small gig; I checked out the park Saturday, as it's in a part of the City in which I rarely spend time, and it's tiny. Still, it's big enough to accommodate a guitar-playing 'singer'/songwriter and the little legion of friends he's able to drag out to see him. Even if I end up playing to no one but some perturbed birds and squirrels, I intend to have a good time, as I did last year. It's Sunday, June 21st, at 5:00 PM; Duane Park is located
here, at the intersection of Duane and Hudson Streets, and you can take the 1/2/3 or A/C trains to Chambers Street and walk a few short blocks from there. You know you want to... And if you need further goading, check out my latest
'vlog posting on YouTube!
This upcoming weekend, I've got a different adventure planned. Several years back, I embarked upon a "Three Meals in Three Cities in Twenty-Four Hours" tour, managing to have lunch in Philadelphia, dinner in New York, and breakfast in Boston within the self-designated time constraints. I stayed in Boston for a few days that time... but this time, I've decided to take it a step further and have four meals in four cities, in the same twenty-four hour period. The plan is to have breakfast in Washington, D.C., lunch in Philly, and dinner in New York, all on Friday, June 5th, followed by breakfast in Boston on Saturday morning. Yes, the travel (via Megabus and Greyhound, not to mention New Jersey Transit) is going to eat a lot of my time, but it won't eat too much of my money (under a hundred bucks total, in fact). "Because I can," if you have to ask... Sure, I'd like to spend more time in each city, and yes, I am overdue for a vacation, but I enjoy a challenge, and it's going to be fun to grab a few meals, do a bit of walking, and plaster some Andersen Silva flyers and stickers around four major Northeast cities before moving on. Hey, if you're up for an early breakfast in D.C. or a late lunch in Philly or a, well, normally-scheduled dinner in New York this Friday, or an early breakfast in Boston (hmmm, I should check what time Zaftigs opens), let me know!
