Several months ago I encouraged you all to submit songs to the NY Songwriter's Contest. This year's prizes are bigger and better than ever before with Grand prize which includes $10,000 and a chance to appear with John Oats in concert, among many other amazing prizes. I am thriled to announce that 2 artists which I have featured here as Artists of the Month have made it into the top 12 finalists, BARNABY BRIGHT For their song "Gravity"
 and
MARTIN RIVAS For his song "North"

The top 12 will perform at The Bitter End on Wednesday Nov 18th in front the distinguished pannel of judges - the following night the top 5 will be announced, will perform and then the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be announced.
Here is a list of the 12 semi finalists:
Justin Tracy - Secrets Reed Waddle - Piece By Piece Here is my pick for the top 5:
Barnaby Bright Kate Branagh Adrien Reju The Sweet Remains Martin Rivas
I'm not sure about the top 3.... but I'd put money on Barnaby Bright being in there and maybe even going all the way.
It would be a wonderful affirmation of their talent and appeal which I think they are blissfully unaware of. I went to see them the other night at cafe Vivaldi and asked them if they knew they had devoted fans in China, Canada and Bulgaria - they had no idea that fans from all over the world had used their songs in videos - no big productions, just the kind where they stick a photo or 2 up with the song just to get the song out there to the world because, as the Canadian fan wrote "In love with this song, in love with this band... just so much love. Please do check them out!" then posted the song "Yellow Moon" with this photo as the only backdrop:

Clearly their sound has a universal appeal which was also evident in the very warm reception they got throughout their European tour in Holland, Belgium, England and Ireland.
I think Barnaby Bright has a very bright future, and winning this songwriter's contest would go a long way in helping them break out to a larger market by acknowledging their enormous talent.
BEST OF LUCK, MY FRIENDS!!
One last note: I have posted a new song from this month's Artist of the Month, Christopher Dallman: "Coming Around". I think it might be my favorite off his new EP - Check it out.
