So we have two shows left to play as a band, save for the potential of going over to Japan early next year. We'll see about that.....
A few things:
We have an album coming out soon (hopefully), called 'The Quiet Finale'. Rather fittingly, we are releasing it after Tom has left the country, in the kind of rag-tag, disorganised way that we are used to, and indeed, thrive upon and cherish. We should be releasing it online, so available on iTunes and Spotify i would expect. Or just download that shizz off the internets, like a pirate. I think the record will be out on 'Faux Discx', Dan Reeves' label, which has loose affiliations with Small Town America. Dan Reeves, what a guy. (check out Cold Pumas, An Emergency, Tyler and all the other kick ass bands he has been in over the years).
Being in this band has meant that we have had the ability to play with and meet a lot of really cool people. This, for me, is the best thing about being in a band. Meeting with like minded people from across the country, from across the world, from across a whole social spectrum, with different opinions, different haircuts, and different ideas on how people should live their lives. It's been an absolute pleasure to meet and talk to these people.
Massive shout outs go to, in no particular order: Pennines (Henrrrry, Tristan, Mike, Jem, you bunch of legends), Mike and Joe and all at Kruger/ Cardiff, Badge of Friendship (you guys, thanks so much for help and being nice to us), Tellison, Johnny Foreigner (gin soaked and amazing), Tubelord (loving the album), Chrik, Katy 4wines (the driver who knows no bounds, and whose mother knows how to dry clothes off REALLY quickly), Banquet Records and all at Kingston that have tolerated our frequent visits and made playing at New Slang so much fun (why doesn't everyone run a label like this?!), Hot Club de Paris for being the best band around, Mick from Adebisi Shank for making us laugh like idiots, John Hannon, Huw Stephens for the props and Maida Vale session, the people of Huddersfield, Ben Woodhouse for a really good lift back from Crealy Adventure Park, everyone in Cork for being absolutely bonkers and great fun, and last but in no way least, Hooray for Humans - our amazing and eternal Irish buddies. (and Louis' third eyebrow)
If you're not on the above list, sorry. Apologies. Whoops.
So yeah, another band over, another opportunity to take stock and work out what is important in life, and where we are all going, and what we need in our lives. It's funny, when we started Super Tennis, we wanted to sound like Slint, or Do Make Say Think, or Q and Not U, or something wonky and angular. Odd to see how we've turned out.
Ok, enough self analysis and indulgence. Peace out.
