Current mood:Miffed
I shall be on here soon to explain the full reasons for the use of Jonny Wrong, Wright and Mandolin Pete and the reason working with Tom and Freddy became untennable. Meanwhile, to keep myself spick and span, i've been cycling all summer and Autumn. Today I attempted to get to Sheffield on bicycle. But alas the 'Naughty Pennine Gods' were against me, as i snapped the chain nearing the summit of the Snake Pass. Freewheeling back to Glossop, i met one of those nice guys you sometimes run into on bad days. Experienced cyclist Mr John Radford, not only fixed my chain, but also kept me entertained with stories of his cycling hey day. thanks John. And thanks to the lovely couple who so kindly stopped at the top for me. Snake Pass

- be warned. I'm coming back to take you on again!

What a lovely kind man Mr Radford is, warms your cockles when this kind of thing happens on an otherwise shit day, doesn't it? Keep up the cycling, you'll have thighs like concrete by Christmas x

Nice one Paul...nothing like a good ole bike ride to clear the mind and tone the body. I hope all that   fresh air is giving you some inspiration to write some cracking tunes for the next album. Keep the blogs coming..

Thanks for posting this Paul - it prompted me to chat to my Dad about his adventures cycling from Manchester to Glossop via Chapel-en-le-Frith, Castleton, Hope, Bomford joining the Snake Road at Ladybower Reservoir - something he did with a friend of his every fortnight for a year or so during the 1950's.  They encountered various obstables on their way, including a blizzard on the Snake Pass - hope you don't have a similar experience!  They calculated that if they didn't apply their brakes on the Snake Road approaching Glossop they would reach 641 mph at the traffic lights in Glossop, which in turns means I wouldn't be around now!!

His father, my Grandfather, although I never met him :( was driving through an electrical storm on the Snake Pass in the 1920's and apparently there were glowing gas plasma balls about the size of a football travelling alongside his car and then they silently vanished...spooky!!

Oh - my Dad's name?  Bob Heaton!  His Dad - Samuel Heaton!

It's obviously a Heaton/Snake Pass thing!  Enjoy your cycling, be safe!
