What has happened in Gaza over the past weeks has highlighted once more the shocking acts of ethnic cleansing and genocide that the Israeli government perpetrates daily upon the Palestinian people. Most of us are sick to our guts at what we have seen on the news and more horrors will undoubtedly emerge now that foreign journalists can gain access. Images on the news today showed a city in ruins and it's dwellers devastated by death, injury and the loss of loved ones.

Tell me, what is the difference between this and the Warsaw Ghetto? The Jewish people have said that everyone must know about the holocaust and we must never forget it happened so it will never happen again. Gaza is Israel's Warsaw ghetto and we must never forget it. It is not anti-Semitic to say this, it's just the plain truth. Their use of  force was completely disproportionate to the threat they were under. They have broken the rules of the Geneva convention and perpetrated the mass murder of hundreds of innocent people while the whole world watched helplessly.  How on God's earth is this still allowed to happen in this so-called civilized world? 

I firmly believe that the Twin Towers would be still standing if the conflict in Palestine had been resolved. America knows this and  as long as they fund the Israelis there will always be the threat of terrorist acts on it's own turf. Maybe they need this threat. Perhaps it's true that in order to hold power over the people the US needs the looming spectre of terrorism with which to unify the nation.

It's hard not to feel helpless but you can do something by boycotting Israeli goods such as oranges and herbs. Superquinn in Ireland tends to stock quite a few Israeli goods so make sure to check the country of origin on the label before you buy.

God help the people of Gaza as they are living in hell on earth.
