Current mood: productive
Well we're heading back to the Czech Republic again on Monday and also squeezing in a gig in Vienna while we're nearby. I produced an album last month for a great Czech folk singer called Lucie Redlova and it's being released in record time this week on Sony BMG. Now why can't we turn around our own album so quickly? The whole thing was done in a few weeks. I recorded the basic drums, bass, guide vocals, guitar and mandolin in Dublin and did the rest in Sono Studios outside Prague. It was also mixed there. They emailed the mixes back to me in Dublin and I suggested changes, if any, until we got them right. It worked out really well and the album is sounding beautiful. Sono is a great studio by the way, nice big Neve desks and lots of old microphones.
So Lucie and the Wall Brothers are doing a bunch of dates together (we're playing with her as well) and Sony BMG have also decided to release The Walls last album 'New Dawn Breaking' to coincide with the tour. Now that's a great idea! Joe and I will be doing the two-man show with the projector screen and all the visuals and we'll be playing a lot of new material as well as songs from NDB. If you haven't seen the two-man show yet put "the walls - stop the lights" into YouTube and check it out.
Anyway, the new album is practically all written and demo'd and all we need to do now is record it properly. There's a lot of surprises in the bag and we've done our best not to sound like what we generally sound like.....I'm going to see AC/DC tomorrow night and it's possible that after that I'll want to scrap everything and record a rock'n'roll album. Quite possible.
Anyway, I don't get to blog much and I don't know if anyone reads this crap but I just thought I'd let our cyberbuddies know what's been happening on planet Walls for the last while. There's been lots of other stuff but it's too late now to write anymore and I'm gonna hit the sack.
Oiche mhaith kids,
Steve
