Dear friends, fans, and anyone else who we met along the way,
This
blog has been a long time coming, and although some of you already
know, I regret to inform you that Guard Your Steps is no more. There
were a number of factors which led us all to the decision to call it
quits, although none of these factors were more prominent than any of
the others. As most of you know, being in a band is an extremely hard
business. Being in a band and trying to go to school full-time is even
harder. Not to say that we didn't love being in Guard Your Steps, but I
think that we all realized that we couldn't do it forever. Casey and
Chris would have been foolish to pass up some of the opportunities that
they have had to play with Nashville recording artists just to be in
GYS, and although they miss playing metal shows, I think they made the
right decision. In the spring of last year, both Sam and I were
considering transferring to schools out of state, and since we were
fairly certain we would be transferring and that Chris and Casey were
okay with the band ending, we decided that trying to continue the band
would be pointless. Sam ended up returning to Texas to attend Baylor
University this fall, but I decided to stay in Nashville. Also, as many
of you are aware, we had also had our vocalist depart in the spring,
and were considering replacing him. Thank you to everyone who showed
interest in filling the position, and we're sorry that none of you
really got the chance to audition. Finally, I just want to take the
chance to thank all of our friends and fans. Your support really meant
the world to us, and we couldn't have asked for a more solid fanbase.
We realize that we never played the most popular sounding music, so
thank you to everyone who who ever headbanged, danced, or just had a
great time at one of our shows. Lastly, thank you to all of the bands
in the Nashville area and everywhere else that helped us out over the past two years. We
could not have done this if it weren't for our great friends in A Plea
For Purging, At the Throne of Judgment, Alert the Sky, Alcina, When Hope Prevails, Eve of Shadows, Sophia, and Dissect
the Coroner. Thank you all and farewell!
P.S. There will not be a farewell show at this point. We will keep you
posted on any future endeavors any of the band members have. You can
expect a new Nashville band TBA from me sometime this fall.
Sincerely,
Pete & Guard Your Steps
