I say this with no irony and no, particular, malice, but calling 9/11 the "end of the age of irony" stands,in a decade spilling over with them,as one of the truly dumb things said by a public intellectual about The War On Terror(whatever the fuck that is)/"the age of irony"(whatever the fuck that is)/anything(...). Were I Graydon Carter, I would stop drawing attention to being the jackass who said it.
The rest of the review was,if you give a shit about George Plimpton*,fine.
Hey, we have a record out! You should get it! www.freshkillsband.com
*Outside of a cute appearance in Good Willing Hunting** and a serviceable guest spot on The Simpsons...I don't.
**I know a lot of people hate Good Will Hunting. They're probably not wrong. But I think it's sorta sweet. And I like Matt Damon and What'sHerface. And if something's ruined solely by the inclusion of Robin Williams then we have to entirely write off the 1980's. And I'm not willing to do that. Blag Flag,Alan Moore,My Dinner With Andre? Totally worth a little Robin Williams/Billy Crystal/Ronald Reagan.
