So far from the little bit I have played WAR (Warhammer: Age of Reckoning) it really doesn't seem ready for launch (Preview Weekend, OB). So many bugs at the moment it's really hard to believe launch is the 18th and we've basically already seen the final product.
It's not that the game is bad, no that's not what I'm saying at all, I love the way they've done the PVP/RVR in this game. I love the fact that you can go over to someones keep and completely obliterate them and take the keep for you and your friends and drape your banners triumphantly over your newly found keep. I love how you can raid enemies home towns, pillage the town, and burn down their churches and their libraries and anything that suggested they were a civilised culture. And finally, walk up to the king and destroy their king, drag him back to your town and put him in the town square for everyone to see what you and your friends have accomplished.
What I don't understand is why would you take out great RVR armor/reward system and replace it with the most broken thing since early TBC ret pallies.
The system they had was fine, worked really well, no one complained about it in any form, and yet they take out this for a hack of what it used to be
Allow me to explain, the Reknown Rank armor sets (Reknown Rank is basically your PVP 'level' if you will) was spread out over a load of levels one set for every few levels. They had great stats, looked awesome and didn't cost alot.
So apparently as this was flawed they deemed it necessary to replace it with 4 sets from 1-40 and make the classes first set have terrible (the wrong stats on a few sets) stats, make it 'normal' class armor.
Am I the only one who sees flawed logic in this?
Let me put it this way, in the game there are things called 'Public Quests', which are more or less a really cool kind of quick way to get gear and some Influence which can later be used to turn in for items, Well someone who gets items from PQ's can crush someone in the RR armor sets. So basically, someone who has PVE armor and grinded a player quest, and go up and blow away a person who did PVP for their PVP set of armor and beat them in PVP.
EDIT: Just recently found out the entire set is spread across levels 9-20, this can either be really cool, or really bad
Now like I said, I may be the only person seeing a flaw in this, but it doesn't seem right to have a PVP oriented game have terrible PVP armor sets which can be replaced with PVE armor.
Other than this huge mistake I dearly hope Mythic will fix, the game seems to be an alright game for what it is.
My pre-order headstart for WAR starts tommorow, so let's hope things have cleared up.
