“There is no way to pack for this trip” - Helen Hunt’s Carol Connelly in As Good As It Gets,
cut to scene of Jack Nicholson’s Melvin Udall with a perfectly arranged
bed full of clothes ready for packing … I’ve to say I’m with Helen on
this one. I’ve been here less than a week and so far we’ve experienced
in turn scorching hot, very cold, wet and now beautiful sunny weather
again. Someone, somewhere has lost the run of themselves with the
weather dial …
Freeport and Pawling in the last nights have been great fun. We bid
adieu to Maia Sharp* in Freeport and made a new friend in Phil* (who we
believe is really Andre Agassi) at the Towne Crier last night. I’m also
growing into and expanding my own role within the operation and have
taken to signing the CDs and posing for pictures with the fans myself
as well - I could get used to this rock an’ roll craic …
We’re also mourning the death of our car/tour bus - the last rights
were administered by the mechanic after it had flat lined en route to
the WCLZ radio show. Only limited time for grieving though, as the
healing must begin quickly and even more importantly, the search for a
new one - we’ll hardly catch up with The Giants on foot …
* Maia Sharp - TGG played a series of gigs with Maia. Saturday in Freeport was the last.
* Phil - owns & runs the Town Crier venue in Pawling, NY and tells a great joke to boot.
