Friday, August 21, 2009 The Connecticut Yankee 100 Connecticut St. San Francisco Doors 9pm Show 10pm We are all sure to have an incredible and intimate evening of music in our Friend Fritz's living room. Thank you for opening The Yankee to us Fritz! And thank you to members of New Monsoon & friends for providing the music! Most of you probably know & love Kate and might be aware of the challenges that she is facing. For those of you that don't know, Kate has been diagnosed with "Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord." We are getting together to help out Kate financially through not only the medical challenges that lie ahead, but to help ensure she is having the most fun possible. Kate will be there as the guest of honor for this special evening. Kate has been involved in the music community for quite some time, traveling far and wide to support the musicians she has discovered to love. In the few years I've known Kate I have seen her spread the word of these musicians, buying extra tickets, CDs and other merchandise to share with people in hopes of spreading the music she loves while supporting those bands. We have also seen Kate open her home to strangers in hopes of helping them through a rough time as well as numerous other people she would find through her work at the VA Hospital or randomly on a bus or at a local pub. Kate has also done tremendous healing through her work as a massage therapist over the years. And most who speak to Kate are sure to share a good laugh and a good time all around. Now it is our turn to show Kate how much we love her. We will be running a silent auction and are taking donations. So far we have a set of CDs from one of our infamous tapers, Lobster! A Ham Jam Visit with Tim Lynch, A Burlesque Performance & Workshop for 10 ladies by The AMAZING Coconuts Lunatique, A Private Tour for 10 at Lagunitas Brewery in Petaluma, A Print from Susan J. Weiand Photography, A Guitar Lesson in West Marin from Jeff Miller, Hand Crafted Pottery by Mary Mar Keenan, Custom Jewelry by Lisa B & Freda, as well as several signed Michael Everett posters and more. . . it is going to be great!!!!
