Press Release from Sirius:

KEITH RICHARDS OPENS UP TO SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO
Rare in-depth interview with rock icon Keith Richards sharing personal stories
Interview conducted by Steve Jordan, Keith Richards' bandmate in the X-pensive Winos

NEW YORK - December 19, 2007 – SIRIUS Satellite Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) will broadcast tonight an exclusive in-depth interview with Keith Richards, one of rock's living legends. This rare interview was conducted by Steve Jordan, Keith's friend and bandmate from The X-pensive Winos. The interview will air on The Spectrum, channel 18 at 8 pm ET on December 19th, with encores on December 20th at 1 am and 5 pm ET. Additional replays of the interview will air on The Spectrum and Classic Vinyl channel 14 through the month.

In the one-hour exclusive, SIRIUS subscribers will experience a rare trip into the mind of Keith Richards as he shares stories on a variety of topics including his three day road trip with John Lennon through England, his first encounter with Muddy Waters at Chess studios, his infamous meeting with Peter Tosh, meeting Chuck Berry, and the life-changing experience of hearing Elvis Presley for the first time on Radio Luxembourg.

Keith Richards also shares his passion for music, the artists that have inspired him the most, and his experiences working with artists that he "worshipped" as a child. Listeners will also hear Keith discuss "Pressure Drop" and "Run Run Rudolph," two songs he recently released commercially, for the first time.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Keith Richards is a founding member of The Rolling Stones and one of rock's pioneering guitarists. In 2003, Keith Richards ranked number ten in Rolling Stone magazine's top 100 guitarists of all time. Over his four decade career, Keith Richards has worked on various solo projects as singer, songwriter, and producer with some of the greatest artists in rock history.

I really enjoyed tonight's interview, I ended up being able to listen with a free trial subscription to Sirius Satellite. It was a nice & unexpected holiday treat. Glad to hear that both Keith and Steve agreed that something will definitely happen with the Winos in the future!

Blue Lena emailed me about the interview when it was on live, but I was having some internet problems, so I only caught the end of it, which turned out to be the incredible Sarah Dash belting out "Time Is On My Side" with the X-Pensive Winos.
So I decided to yank out the credit card, and I paid for the full internet subscription to Sirius. I will definitely listen to the entire interview on the re-play tomorrow night.
This was sincerely on my Hannukah wish list, a Winos tour, or something like that, in one configuration or another, to happen in the future.
Steve Jordan is an amazing drummer, and it would be so good to see him play with Keith again.
I first saw them play together in 1986 in St. Louis, when Taylor Hackford was filming "Hail, Hail, Rock And Roll, A Tribute To Chuck Berry," for which Keith Richards was the musical director, and I later saw them together again on some X-Pensive Winos dates that I was quite blessed to see.
It would be so great to see another Winos tour!
I look forward to hearing what Keith has to say in the interview about all the topics mentioned in the above blog.

FYI--Here is some information regarding the mystery of the two men who wrote "Run Rudolph Run," since they were briefly referred to by Keith Richards during his Sirius Radio interview with Steve Jordan.
Like Keith Richards, one the song's co-writers, Johnny Marks, was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame. Marks, who passed away in 1985, had written an entire slew of Christmas songs, so many in fact, that the publishing company he formed was called "St. Nicholas Music." Marks was also the head of the American Society Of Composers, Authors And Publishers (ASCAP) for a period of four years, at a time prior to the Rolling Stones even being formed.
I can not tell you who the song's other co-writer, Marvin Brody was, but to my knowledge, he has never been credited with writing or co-writing any other well-known song.
Here is an interesting and not very well-known Keith Richards/Chuck Berry fact that relates to "Run Rudolph Run" and Marvin Brody. It is something, however, that I personally noticed, and I thought I would bring up here, since I have never seen it mentioned anywhere else.
On the Chess Records Chuck Berry 7-inch version of the "Run Rudolph Run," Marvin's last name is spelled as "Brodie." On my 45's for "Run Rudolph Run" that were recorded by Keith Richards, Marvin's last name is spelled as "Brody." So his last name is spelled differently on these 45 rpm discs.
It was a lovely interview, highly recommended, but really, most of all, it was great to hear that there may be another Winos tour!!!!!

Here is another interesting detail, yet another new set of facts for you about Keith's version of "Run Rudolph Run."
Unlike my two Keith Richards commercially released (retail) versions of the seven-inch 45 RPM discs of "Run Rudolph Run," I just came across my 7-inch 45 rpm disc that I have here, which is an advance promo copy of Keith's version of "Run Rudolph Run." On my KR advance promo copy (which was manufactured and distributed by WEA), Brodie's name is spelled as Marvin "Brodie."
This means that the KR advance promos had his name spelled as "Brodie," yet KR's commercial releases had the spelling "Brody" printed on them.
As I noted previously, on the Chess Records Chuck Berry 7-inch discs, it was spelled as "Brodie."
This likely means that the writing credit was misspelled on the commercially released version of Keith's "Run Rudolph Run" 7-inch 45's.
However, according to ASCAP, the co-writing credit for the song was spelled as Marvin Lee Broadie.
So there you go.
Naturally, I also have the new download version on my ipod. The song still rocks, and I will never look at the spelling on the writing credits. (-:

Shine a Light

I was to see .. Shine the Light ' the film of Scorcese on the Stones. It creates a climate in the beginning, the Stones embromam which goes to touch 1o, but when Keith delivers .. Jumpin'Jack .. and that one .. luz'brilha or better, it blows up, a sudden illumination happens with me: the Stones had been successful! E who does not know of this? Not! I say more, they had won the time, the space, any new band. I do not want to speak here of reason, I want to speak of emotion. A critic of a periodical daqui liked it film, but it not manja nothing of Stones. He has one 13 years, a college colleague said me that I had to be of the few that still waited some thing of Mick and Cia. Always exists the possibility of the new, but to breach the barrier of the time I am not pra any one. Of the Buddy Guy that I knew with the Chincho in the Maksoud Square and I enter of favour in its show, in 85. Ingenuous, I asked to the Buddy Guy if it knew the Mick Jagger, the Prince, the Bowie. Humble, he answered that yes, without saying me that the Hendrix if inhaled in it. It, Buddy Guy, there, arrepiando in the screen, as much that Keith gave its guitar to it in palco exactly. I remember the sound that had a poison that I did not obtain to identify. That guitar with those dissonâncias that evoked a chaotic world. Certain time was this that said in a deposition the Mick Jagger in its saite in 2001: that it was not revolutionary as Che Guevara, but that the world was a better place for cause of it. He was this that wanted to join in my music .. the Che Lives '. The guitar of Keith and the Revolutionary. For what!? But in that illumination of the Jumpin'Jack everything was excessively. I remember 1a time where I heard .. Simpathy will be the Devil ' in the Radio Culture, circa 78. I was absolutely without breath. It only knew music Disco and James Brown, but to that it was excessively. Of the Mato Grosso that I crossed with the Chincho, where Mick and the Keiths had been 15 years before, in 68, where they had made .. Wild Horses '. Of the drawing of 10 X 10 meters for 20 cm of fundura that I made in front of the face of Keith in the beach to the hotel of it in 95. They had been 2 working hours and in the hour of the show I was bambo. He will be that it saw? I heard per years the wire that the Stones already was, etc. But this here [ and pure Greek Theater, Dionisíaco. Of the Scorcese that likes it Dylan and that it admires the Glauber, my Glauber, everything are closed. This is my group. E always goes to be thus. My babacas colleagues said that the Hexagonal Record .. Thru the Past, badly recorded Darkly'era .. '. The business of them was Yes. It's possible? How could I been right at 14? Emannuel Swedenborg, theologian who visited the paradise, said that "in the Sky, the angels walks side by side with the spring of its youth, of form that the angel oldest, seems to be new". How not to enxergar the Mick boy, making its moves? Where it exists decline of conscience exists time. Spectators are passive vampires, said Jim Morrison. Children of the Fire, Mick Jagger, Caetano, Ney Matogrosso, the Keiths Richards, Bob Dylan, Chico Buarque and as much others pass luminares while the group of gargarejo is thinking about the reasons.
