hey guys this is john banzhoff (singer)

Ive got bad news, after 8 or more years and 700+ shows our band The Loft will be splitting up.  We recently lost both of our guitar players, do to a lack of desire to continue.  There is no love loss between members, they just want to move on. We will be playing the final few shows on our schedule with this line-up(except for the MI shows). So come out and experience the last few Loft shows, with us. Your last chance to rock with us as THE LOFT.

I want to thank all of our friends and fans, who have been amazing to us over the years. We love you guys. Your kindness over the years has been a driving force.

But fear not Loft fans the three remaining members of The Loft (Phil, Biggs, and myself ) are marching on.  We're currently hunting talent for our new project.  We hope to have new music for you soon!  I will keep you updated.

HAZARD PERRY

Saddest thing we have heard in a long time. We will miss you guys.

Always rock on fellas. Good times.

WOW! That's all I can say! It seems like yesterday that I I was watching you guys play at the highschool, and looking back at pictures of my old room covered in posters that Jon gave me for shows yall were doing. I can not believe it. It's so sad, but I guess time for who's left to move on. You all have great talent and I know you guys will make something. Maybe this is supposed to happen, and you will find bigger and better things. I wish you all luck, and hope that everything works out for everyone.

John,
You have no idea how badly I hate hearing this news. I understand that you have to do what you have to do. It's just a shame...that's all. You guys are so talented and on top of that, all of you are great friends too! I can honestly say that your music, since the day I was turned on to it by Jason Knight in Bowling Green, has been a gateway for me to meet some really good people and some life-long friends. I realize this will be a big change for all of you and I know it's presenting a whole new set of challanges but I'm confident that you guys will find a way to make your music happen. People like you don't come along very often. You have a very unique sound that I quickly fell in love with from the first time I ever watch ya'll play at the Young Avenue Deli in Memphis. After that.....it was all over! I just couldn't get enough of your sound and I'm sure that will never change. I really wish all of you the best of luck with your future. I've said this before and the offer will ALWAYS stand.....any and/or all of you (including all your cool gals), always have a place to stay whenever you are in Memphis. I mean that.
Take care and I hope to hear some good news from ya'll soon! It will happen, I'm sure of it!
Thanks for everything guys- my CD's are now going to get more play-time than they ever have before!

Jules

P.S.- The Kudos I'm giving you is not for this blog John.....trust me when I say that.
And the number of Kudos they offer here will never compare to what you guys deserve for making some awesome music! So 1000 Kudos and many more guys- I'm looking forward to hearing some more Fucking Rock-n-Roll!!

Wow, this is really disheartening. Almost two years ago, while visiting my sister in Wilmington, NC, we decided to go down to The Soapbox (a local combination bar/laundromat) on a whim to see this band that got an intriguing write-up in the local paper. That band was The Loft, and in that one performance, I was totally hooked. It was a magical night. My sister got engaged at that show! Burke was their witness! Also, your show totally got me laid with one of my sister's friends, btw. I bought y'all's cds right there, and I've been playing them steadily ever since. In June of '07, I was fortunate enough to see John & John again in New Brunswick, NJ where they played a stripped down acoustic set full of then-new material. I'm telling you, when I heard Slow Start for the first time that night, it completely blew me away. At that moment I knew that whenever the opportunity would present itself, I would have to see The Loft play. Of course, living in Pennsylvania, those opportunities came around very rarely. In fact, just last May, The Loft were scheduled to do a show in New York City. I knew I had to go. I used you guys' show as the perfect excuse to call this friend-of-a-friend I had been emailing back-and-forth for a while and ask her out to your show. I left PA bristling with excitement and headed to NY only to find out when I arrived that your bus broke down on the way, and the gig was canceled. So I went to this girl's place, explained how we were not going to see this really awesome band that night, and... I've been with her ever since. And even though we got together that night probably because we didn't go to your show, I've always thought to myself, "Next time.
"

Now I come to find out there aren't going to be anymore next times. It saddens me. I really, really wish I could have seen you guys more. I wish I could have shared your live experience with more of my friends. I wish the whole world could have the opportunity to be moved by your music as much as I have in a way that most music simply can't move me. Soulful Southeast Exhibit, Tombstone Tapes, I f*cking LOVE those records, man! They're in my car all the time along with so many copies of your live shows. In fact, you guys were just the last thing I listened to. And while I sometimes did miss Nathan's keys these last couple months, I really liked your new stuff, too (Big Wheel is amazing!), and hoped that you guys were really on the verge of blowing up. If anybody deserves it on talent alone, it's you guys. You're all phenomenal! From John powerful vocals, to Phil's smooth bass lines, to John and Chris's sweet guitar work, to Biggs' mindblowing pounding of the skins, it is all always amazing.
And to think I happened upon you cramped together on this tiny stage in a bar full of washing machines in North Carolina by total complete and absolute chance!

I really just want to truly thank you guys for your music. It really has meant so much to me these past two years. I hope all the best to all of you both professionally and personally. I anxiously look forward to any and all new music form all of you guys in any permutation it may end up being.

Finally, if there is any dollar amount that could coerce you guys into having a The Loft Reunion Concert as the band at my wedding reception in the next couple years, please let me know.
:)

I am sorry to hear about such a great loss, but I know that you are all talented musicians. It's the end of an era; life is funny like that. I wish you all the luck in the world and your preseverance WILL pay off. Keep doing what your doing, and good things will happen. Lots of bands break up, but they go on to fulfill their dreams. Keep on keeping on.
YOU ROCK!!!

Wow! This is the end of an era.
Some of my best memories are a drunken haze of booze, cigarette smoke, and my closest friends front and center screaming out every lyric to every song at a packed dive bar jamming out to our most favorite band EVA!! I can truly say that The Loft is one of my all time favorite bands! Trust me, you're up against some tough competition! I hope the rest of you do find a new project! Keep me posted! I can't wait to see you one last time in my home town! I hope you guys play some oldies, but goodies!
