PICTURE:

The inspiration for this song came from a girl I met and sort of dated between my freshman and sophomore year in college.  We started hanging out about a week before the break and it was going great!  I guess I figured (wrong) that we could pick back up where we left off after the summer break, only to find out she had transferred schools and was now dating my old camp counselor... Oops!  Although I never had a picture of us, I loved the concept of being stuck in a "picture" or moment that you can't get back to...

(V1)
Can I jump off this black and white page
Go back before it was too late
Cause I’m tired of just two dimensions
stuck in this picture with you

(V2)
Fair thee well I bid you that summer
Couple months but you’d still be under
My spell, my charm, oh no, it’s gone, it’s gone

(CHORUS)
Out, I missed out
Out on being the one you run to
Out, I missed out
Now I’m stuck in this picture with you

(V3)
Now I get to watch you two kissing
Fake a smile; I’m on a mission
To get you out of this heart of mine
And try to get back some wasted time

(Bridge)
So tell me if I told you how I feel
Would it make you run, would it make you real
Cause I’m inside out and upside down
And your picture don’t make a sound

WHAT IT FEELS LIKE:

This song is about the first night my wife and I hung out.  It was genuinely one of those moments where time seemed to stand still.  We sat on a couch and talked between the hours of 1am and 6am without moving.  We were both completely shocked that it had been more than maybe half an hour, and were completely convinced there was something wrong with every clock in the house.

(V1)
I know that it’s easier to go home
Turn the TV on, so you don’t feel
Do I a plant a question in your mind?
Maybe this time, you’ll hang around just a little bit longer
I think this chemistry is getting stronger, now
Don’t let the moment pass you by

(V2)
Fingers through your hair, I know what that means
A tell tail sign of what you’re feeling
You’ve got questions racing through my mind… like

CHORUS
If you’re wonderin’ what it feels like
Staying up all night
Laughing till the sunrise
Baby you can know what it feels like
Cause that look in your eye
Says that you wanna find out
What it feels like

BRIDGE
4am and we’re just getting started
I’m wide awake, but not  like my heart is
Tomorrow you know I’ll just wanna do it again
I want to do it again

LONDON:

Although not about any particular person, this is just a fun song I wrote that I think everyone can relate to somewhere in their lives.  It's hard to navigate through the dating world without at least a few relationship casualties.  This song sounds sweet until the twist at the end of the chorus... makes me laugh every time.

(Verse 1)
Oh my dear, what has brought us here
Was it you or me or something in between
and all I know, I’m about to go
Forgive me if I’m being extreme

You say you want me happy
Well I feel the same way to

(Chorus)
I’ll go to London for a while
Or home to Texas, its just 800 miles
Maybe LA for the views
Just as long as it’s a long way from you

(Verse 2)
It’s time to keep on moving
I’m tired of always losing
These days and months are fading into years
You’re begging me to work it out
But I promise I can do without
So here’s my “how to fix it” idea

(BRIDGE)
Cause baby we got a mountain to climb
And I don’t think that I want to this time
This ship has sailed and I’m already on board
A one way tickets all that I could afford

(Final Chorus)
I’m off to London for a while
Then home to Texas, it’s just 800 miles
Then to LA for the view
Oh, just as long as it’s a long way from you

NOTHING BETTER:

This song takes you to a sunrise and a moment of decision where a guy is holding the ring, trying to work up the nerve to propose.  He is overwhelmed with the magnitude of "forever", but also knows that there is nothing better in the world than being with the one he loves... single tear... =)

(VERSE 1)
Here I sit upon the bench where I spent the last night
Seeking answers for my head, try to beat the sunrise
I’m just looking for a sign, cause I just want to make you mine
But forever’s so big to me

(VERSE 2)
We’ve been together for two years
I thought this would all be clear
Am I the man of your dreams, the man I wanna be
I could question this to death, or just try and hold my breath
But all I know

(CHORUS)
There’s nothing better baby, than being with you
There’s nothing better than when it’s just the two
Of us alone in this room
That’s when I know, I know
There’s nothing better than you

(Bridge)
Can people really change
So many things that I don’t want to do the same
As what I’ve seen, and I know there’s no guarantee
With love there’s no guarantee

But I’ll take my chance cause…

DON'T SAY GOODBYE:

This is just a fun song of encouragement to not lose faith and hope amidst troubled times.  It's also an encouragement to follow your dreams and not lose heart.  No good thing ever came on the first try, and if it did, you might be missing out on something better!

(Verse 1)
There’s nothing quite like an open road, leave it all behind
You’re not looking back
Drive til the daylight cracks a smile, and for a little while
You’re not looking back

(Verse 2)
Turns out the hard way is all you got left in your hand to play
You’re time will come around
If you’re thinking bout cashing in,
All your dreams are wearing thin… no
Your time will come around

(CHORUS)
Cause it‘ll break your heart in a million pieces
Scattered like the stars in the skies
It matters to the world if believing ceases
So don’t ever say goodbye
Don’t say good bye

(Verse 3)
Voices from every side, try to hold you back and tell you lies
Don’t let em drag you down
If you try to please em all, you know it won’t be the real you at all
Don’t let em drag you down

(BRIDGE)
It’s time for you to run and never look back (4X)

FIND MY WAY:

This song was originall written for the American Idol songwriter competition.  I never intended on using it for myself, but it got such a good response the few times I played it live, that I gave in and added it to the project.  Most people think it's a relationship song, which it definitely can be, but was written from the perspective of someone who has just won the biggest singing competition in the world and gone from 0 to 60 in a totally brand new life...

(VERSE 1)
I take time to look around at the place that I’ve found myself
It’s a long, long way from home
It’s still me that you see, don’t believe, everything that you hear
Just wanna let you know
There’s only one thing that can make or break
this dream of mine – it’s you…

(Chorus - first and second)
Did I find my way into your heart
Did my voice ring loud and true
Did I make my place in history
Cause I feel like somethin’s breakin through
Did I find my way

(VERSE 2)
Lights flash and fade away, another day
is flying by me now, did I make it count somehow
It’d be nice to know you, to find the words to break on through
To make this last more than just an hour

(Soft Half Chorus)
Did I find my way into your heart
And I’m thinking now, as I look around

(Final Chorus)
That I found my way into your heart
And now I’m singing loud and true
I’ll take my place in history
Cause now this someone’s breakin through

WITH THE ANGELS:

A little bit of a departure from the other songs on this EP project,  With the Angels might be my favorite tune, although probably the most misunderstood.  This song is actually not about a girl, but about worship.  It tells the story of someone who catches a vision of what heaven will be like, hense being on a street "without a name"... thanks Bono.  When they return "home" from the vision, it affects how they live and view their life here on earth.  I don't want to go into it too much beyond that cause I think some things are best understood by the heart and not the mind.  I'd love to chat with you more about it though if you're interested... hit me up!

(V1)
I close my eyes and look around
It’s quite a place that I’ve found
I’m on a street without a name
Not sure quite how I came

(V2)
I open up to find the world
A little different than before
And if I never hold you here
No it won’t be long, my dear

(CHORUS)
I will break through and I will find you
Like a love song singing with the angels
and when I look back, I will know that
I found my love song singing with the angels

La da da la da da

(V3)
Until the day comes around
Until the melody is found
I will search for the one
All my life, and when I’m done

So that's it... I hope you enjoy the new tunes!  They sound best loud, I promise!

Talk soon-

The louder the better. I need two Mp3 players one for the bands I have always loved and the other for all my myspace finds.
