The follows is a rant about immature gamers, hackers, and n00bs. This is a disclaimer. Don't read on if you are one of the above. Thank you. <rant> In my couple of months of employment at Mission Control I've observed some very careless gaming, and I think that's unfortunate for two reasons: 1. Acting immature makes the game (Because that's what it is, and it's designed for entertainment) less enjoyable. 2. When outsiders to the gaming community see this kind of behavior, it gives them the impression that we're a bunch of gun-toting hooligans, which is exactly what people like Jack Thompson (Trial lawyer who got GTA3 banned) want. There are a few solutions: A. Quit screaming obscinities. It makes you sound dumb. "OMG YOU ****** **** ******* *** ** *****." See? Dumb. B. Don't get pissed off at the video game to the point of hurling your controller, mouse, little sister, etc. This shows that you take the game too seriously. C. Be a presentable human being when playing games, period. Too often has someone come in to use the internet at MC only to be totally annoyed by the buffoons playing CS or BF2 behind him bantering back and forth. Doing these simple things will help change the public face of the video gamer in a positive manner, and thus the way people see the American teenager today. Frankly, the problem is people are afraid of teenagers, and it's unfortunate. Don't be afraid of telling your friends that you play video games, they should understand that it's fun, it's not just for geeks. If in the course of your day you are asked your plans and you do indeed plan to run an instance with your guild or try and rank up to unlock a new weapon, tell your friends that. Don't be ashamed of your own hobby. Anyways, </rant>. Jaffee.
