A lot has been happening with Neoncon. For starters the website itself has been updated and improved. You were telling us that the shopping cart we used before had issues. So, we've done our homework and found a better solution based on the excellent Wordpress publishing platform. As a result, the entire site has been rebuilt from the ground up to be cleaner, leaner and faster.

The new platform also allows us to easily post event updates to the site and embed our Warhorn slot registration site as well. Now, everything you need can be found in one place. Finally, moving to Wordpress allows us to add some cool new features for conference attendees. We are still testing these new features and will be rolling them out in the upcoming days/weeks.

More importantly, we have a bunch of very cool announcements about the show itself. Without further delay ...

Hotel & Travel

• Reduced Hotel Rates: We are happy to announce that, working with our partners at Palace Station Hotel and Casino, we now have even better room rates. Now all Courtyard Rooms are no more than $85/night during the show. That is an additional $30/night off during the weekend. Existing reservations have already been updated with these new lower rates. • Air Travel: We are proud to announce Fain Enterprises and Excursion Travel as our air travel partner. Visit their website and use the travel code NEONCON to save on airfare. When booking your flight, Las Vegas is served by McCarran International Airport (LAS). Once you have landed locate ground transportation by baggage claim and look for the courtesy shuttle to the Palace Station Hotel & Casino.

Schedule of Events

Over the past month we have added over 40 new events and games to the calendar. From classic and independent RPGs to LARPs, miniatures and Magic; we have you covered. Here are a few key schedule additions.

• Vampire LARPs — We are proud to host two official VAMPIRE: The Requiem events from White Wolf Games. Running on Friday and Saturday nights, each game features overcap XP and is run by The Las Vegas Camarilla. In addition to the Vampire events, the Las Vegas Camarilla is also running several other White Wolf LARP events over the weekend. LARP events ARE included in the standard 4 Day Badge. • D&D Miniatures - Demonweb Prerelease Event — Your first opportunity to play with the new Demonweb miniatures! This sealed tournament allows you to build your warband with relaxed guidelines, and the luck of the draw will often level the playing field. Requires Demonweb Prerelease Ticket.
• Magic: The Gathering — Neoncon will feature a full slate of sanctioned Magic: The Gathering tournaments using the new "Shards of Alara" set.
• Warhammer 40K — In addition to the massive Rogue Trader Tournament on Saturday, we have added Space Hulk and Dawn of War events on Sunday.
• D&D - Dungeon Delve - The Royal Gambit — The D&D Dungeon Delve (The Royal Gambit) is a Neoncon exclusive. This event ran at DDXP, Origins, Gencon and PAX. Now, Neoncon is your last chance to play the Delve again in 2008. Jump into D&D 4th Edition and get as far you can in 30 minutes. Along the way, earn special rewards including mini repaints and exclusive RPGA reward cards which can be used to enhance your Living Forgotten Realms characters. There are many different paths to explore; play as often as you like! 4th-level characters are provided.
• D&D - Living Forgotten Realms — We just added the 6 newest LFR adventures to our schedule. So, we will have the complete LFR lineup at the show.
• D&D - Living Greyhawk — In addition to all Year 7 and Year 8 Pale, Nyrond and NMR modules, we are offering the entire CORE "End of Days" story arc.
• D&D - Greyhawk Reborn — Greyhawk Reborn is a global "home campaign" designed to allow you a place to continue playing your LG characters after January 01, 2009. We are premiering three GR modules at Neoncon.
• Pathfinder Society — Neoncon features all six of the current modules offered in Paizo's "Pathfinder Society" living campaign.
• Independent RPGs — We are very happy to welcome back Jerry Grayson of Kephera Publishing who will be running adventures from both HELLAS: World of Sun and Stone and GODSEND Agenda. In addition, we will have quite a few offerings from other Brennan Taylor and his friends at Indie Press Revolution.
• The Board Game Library — Bob Woodson & John Wootress return with their extensive library of board games! Settlers of Catan, Shogun, El Grande, Puerto Rico, Axis & Allies, Battle Lore and Combat Commander are just a few of the games waiting for you!
• Starfleet Battles — Compete at the highest level in Neoncon's 2nd annual Rated Ace Captain's Tournament where knowledge of the rules is paramount for victory. Round one player take place Thursday evening, Friday evening and Saturday morning where players will have the opportunity to play in a SINGLE elimination round. Federation Commander, Open Patrol and Omega Sector events are also available.

Smart Fun

• Dealer's Hall: Our exhibitor hall will include Little Shop of Magic and Action Sports and Comics. Other dealers are in the works as well.
• The Breakfast Table: As gamers, we understand that breakfast is the most important meal of the day at a convention. Therefore, we've worked with Palace Station Hotel and Casino to provide a breakfast table in the main gaming hall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. While you are welcome to take advantage of the many great on-site restaurants, the Breakfast Table allows you to roll in to the gaming hall before your first event, grab a reasonably priced meal and take it directly to your gaming table.
• Cash Bar: This is Vegas! So, in the afternoon and evening, we will also have a cash bar available in the convention hall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Beer, mixed drinks and soda will be available. Have fun and please drink responsibly.
• Costume Contest: Friday is Halloween. So, everyone is encouraged to game in costume that evening. We'll be awarding prizes in a variety of costume categories, so have fun with it. Feel free to dress up all weekend long, but be sure to Friday evening!
• Trick or Treat: Missing the door-to-door candy haul? We have you covered! There will be lots of great treats (and perhaps a few tricks) at the tables on Friday night!

Storytellers, Judges & GMs

As with any good gaming convention, we are always looking for more storytellers/judges/GMs. Specifically, good RPGA judges are always valuable additions to the team. As in the past, Paizo Publishing is supporting our GM pool by providing the foundation to the "Ultimate GM Kit". We are still working on the details, but it will be pretty special again this year.
