Hey there Radials fans one and all!
This has been quite the year for us. As the saying goes, one door closes, and another opens, and that certainly can apply to the Radials. The year started w/the band hard at work putting the final touches on the self-titled debut disc, and welcoming Drew Wofford, multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, into the fold. Shows with Larry Keel and Natural Bridge, as well as Thacker Dairy Road, were more notches in the belt of gigs well done. The disc was wrapped up, and went to press, and eagerly awaited by all.
March saw the band bid a sad good-bye to bassist Rodney J. Owen, who decided to leave to spend more time w/family and pursue other endeavours. The group set about to find another bassist. The slot eventually was filled by Todd Verts, an old friend of the band (Todd was among the earliest admirers when Stephen and Shawn were posting their two man demos on Myspace two years ago!), a Greensboro by way of Colorado musician w/the Outlaw/Folk duo, Mystkdog. Rehearsals got underway, and plans were made for the bands CD release show at The Garage, August 1st.
The release party was a big hit. The group shared the stage w/Charlottesville, VA rockers, 6 Day Bender, and Adam Pope. The night was a steamy, rockin' evening that only could be served up at the Garage. The group spread their fan base w/gigs in Badin Lake, Asheboro, and Charlotte.
As the song says, life is a highway, and like most highways eventually it branches in two different directions. Each way is a mighty good ride, but a decision must be made which route to go. As of October, Stephen Corbett decided it was time to leave the group, and pursue the direction on that highway he needed to go down. It was no easy decision, but we wish Stephen nothing but the best in his musical travels. With that said, it is a new highway that the group is heading down, as well. The band is hard at work at Radials HQ brewing up a potent brew of what it does best: alt-rock styling w/a honky-tonk stomp, and puttin' the boogie back to the woogie! We are proud of the sounds that are cooking, and sure you will be, too!
SO, stay tuned.......
