Every single fan of italo disco music heard about Fockewulf 190. It's a band and the members were Dario Dall'Aere, Victor Life and Salvatore Nonnis (replaced by Markus Moonlite today). I've got the chance to talk with Victor Life about what they are doing these days and about their music in the 80s.



Thank you Victor for your time and for this interview. After many years, since the 80s, Fockewulf 190 is back! Why? Is it the right moment or are there other reasons after all these years?
The reality is that Fockewulf 190 never stopped making music, they just have been hiding in the silence of time, like a wounded animal, waiting for the right moment to born to new life again..
I have to go back in time to explain to you the reasons of this painful choice.
In 1984, after the successful singles „Body Heat“ and „Gitano“, everything was ready for the publication of our first album.
During that year 48 dates tour, we were already playing the tracks of the new record, like „Walking Out“ and „Oh oh oh“, that you can hear today in myspace, but after the last show on new year's eve of 1985, the toy suddenly broke.
One day our producer mysteriously told us his intention to leave the project, built with so much care.
It was a shock too big for us and in the following months I had bad health problems too that blocked my career.
Dario published as a solo the famous „Eagles in the Night“, but he soon realized that the FW190 spirit was much better, so we tryed one last time in 1988 with the Heaven 17 cover “Height Of The Fighting”, under the fake name of Demode Boulevard, but it was useless.
The beautiful romantic and futuristic atmoshepere of the 80s was gone and us with her.
We were disgusted by the italian discograpic scene, that wasn’t able to support a talented band like us, so in 1990 we left Milan, a city that for us was full of ghosts, to regenerate in Rimini and experience with our lovers the sweet life of Romagna.
During this period, that lasted a few years, we always played and composed new songs, like „In My Soul“, „Magic World“ and „Orient Express“, that will be included in the new record.

Could you please tell us who the members of Fockewulf 190 are today, in 2007?
We are still the same. Dario Dell'Aere is the vocalist, I’m at the synth, keyboards and computers, plus Markus Moonlite as lyrics maker and second keyboards. He’s also an estimed music critic and writes for ondarock.it
The guitarist Sten After (Salvatore Nonnis) is not working with us anymore for a long time now.

These days you are preparing your music for 2008, and have plans to release a new album, called ‘Electrum Lux’. Can you tell me more about it please? Which songs and music style will it include, and how you choose the name ‘Electrum Lux’ and what it means?
Originally the Electrum Lux project was meant to be the birth of a new band, but then we realized that it was the natural evolution of the sound of FW190.
Electrum Lux will be the name of the new record, that we hope will be published in 2008; the idea is to link past and future, a mystic vision of the futurism with oriental atmospheres influenced by our own experiences in the esoteric culture.
Some tracks, as I said before, were written in the 80s, there will be also the new versions of „Body Heat“ and „Gitano“ and a cover of „The Model“ by Kraftwerk.
Other songs are completely new and they reflects this our new desire of creating a sound floating in time, where the romantic idea of futurism links with the mysticism, a sonic environment where west and east meet each other.
Electrum is a Latin word currently used in English language, in the ancient times it was an alloy between gold and silver which represented the universal union of male and female , usually used to forge rings.
More specificly Electrum Lux is a name used in a sort of magic Kabalistic culture, where inside we can find one of the numerical e sonic attribute of the divinity who created the universe; this is the power of the electrum.

‘Bodyheat 2007’ is out as a demo version, and is available for people to listen to at your ‘Myspace’ website. Who are the vocalists in this song? And why did you choose this song for the presentation of your new album?
We had the desire to remake „Body Heat“ with the voice of Dario Dell'Aere, like it should had been done in 1984.
Fred Ventura was ok, but we think this version is more sincere towards our fans.

Do you think you have chance to get the proper attention of italo disco fans, after the release of the original ‘Body Heat’ track in 1984?
We didn’t expect to be still remembered today by italo-disco fans all over the world.
“Body Heat“ new version, that probably will have a new name, the same as „Gitano“, is a little gift to all the people who haven’t forgot us..


Well, the original ‘Body Heat’, from 1984, is one of the greatest italo disco songs! The main vocalist was Fred Ventura, however the Cover says that the main vocal is Dario Dall'Aere. Would you explain this situation for me please?
It was a compromise that we accepted to be published by Mincioni production with Turati and Chieregato.
Now I have to say it was a good choice, but it was a sacrifice at the time, Dario had sang the song so well, but Roberto Turati considered that John Foxx kind of voice not commercial enough and they proposed Fred Ventura.
See, this is a classic example of our difficulties in the Italian discographic scene of the time that I were explaining at the beginning.
First they said that we were the new Ultravox and then they keept controlling a War plane like FW190 like it was a paper kite.
If we would have been English, the history of the band would be really different today, but everyone has his own destiny, sometimes you have to accepted anyway before been able to transform and model it as you want.
How would you describe music you were making in the 80s?
Certainly not Italo-disco. We didn’t feel part of that disco songs that Den Harrow and the other were making.
For us it was very clear the New wave concept, there was a sonic research typical of the Synth Pop of the time.
Our singles were dance, but very particular, and they should had prepared the road to that experimental album that never came out, but lives today as Electrum Lux..

Before Fockewulf 190, there was the project ‘Ice Eyes’ with a song entitled ‘No Sex’, in 1982. Can you tell me about the project and how you guys met each other? It was at the end of the 70s, is that right?
Me and Dario met in 1979, outside Astra cinema in Milan, where they were showing the famous movie “The Phantom Of The Paradise”, in 1980 we founded our first band, the “Diamond Dogs”.
When we began to play live in 1981, in the famous new romantic "Taxi Club", alter ego of the great London blitz, we were spotted by a little producer and he propose us to make a single. That single was “No Sex”
We used the name “Ice Eyes”, because “Diamond Dogs”, famous masterpiece of David Bowie, didn’t seemed right for that kind of production.
By the way, the single was a little hit in the milan underground music scene.

The name ‘Fockewulf 190’ appeared for the first time in the beginning of the 80s. Can you tell me how you choose that name and who the members of the band were?
In 1983 we were looking for a serious producer and we found Paolo Mincioni, who had a records store under the metro station of Loreto Square in Milan.
He knowed us very well , because he was giving records to the dj of the Taxi club, who was our guitarrist Stan After (Salvatore Nonnis).
He immediately proposed us to make an hit with Turati e Chieregato, who were already famous with Den Harrow and other artists.
We needed a strong and provocative name, witch could catch attention,
Fockewulf 190 was perfect; Dario was a model building fanatic and he had built one in scale.
It was a choice that had nothing to do with politics.
Life De Noire was my artistic name of the time, that now I simplified with my real name “Victor” Life.

Would you tell me how you met these guys and about your cooperation with them?
Workin with Roberto and Miki was a pleasure.
You have to know that once Turati confided me that they got the idea of producing music after they listened to our song „No Sex“; Roberto was the dj of the American Disaster, the rival club 200 meters far from our Taxi Club.
It’s incredible, but it seems that we were the origin of the italo-disco movement: „No sex“ was the first italian dance song singed in english, except for the italo-german production of the genius Giorgio Moroder and the hits by Krisma, the only italia artists that I valued because they made history in the electronic music.
I don’t know If Roberto really thought that or he just wanted to be nice with me, but I was very proud and I remember it as it happened yesterday.

Why have you only worked with them for one song since ‘Body Heat’ became a great success?
I’m still asking myself, you have to ask them this question.
I think that despite the esteem they showed us, they thought that we were a band not in line with their other productions; the choice of making Fred Ventura sing „Body Heat“ was a sign of that.
When they saw us live at the belle epoque, they were amazed by our way of making a show, but it was too late, they had already made a deal with Mincioni.
I’m convinced that if the Cat and the Fox were our producers, today the FW190 would be a band famous all over the world.
The only difference is that today we still make music and we don’t go play the clown in trash TV shows like “l’isola dei famosi” just to have someone who talk of us again.

Did you know anything about Chieregato/Turatti before ‘Body Heat’?
I didn’t know personally Miki and Roberto before „Body Heat“, and I never met them again. Something tells me that sooner or later there will be a return to the future…

Have you met any of other artists from Chieregato/Turatti production? If so, can you tell me about it?
Obviously yes, practically everyone, since we were making shows together, but I kept my friendship only with Alberto Styloo, I liked his elegant way of presenting himself on the stage, he was a real dandy.
Now I value him as a musician, I think he will make some remix for the new record too.


After ‘Body Heat’, your next song was ‘Gitano’, and is a great song too. Tell me more about it please? Dario Dall'Aere is now the vocalist, right?
Yes, Dario sang „Gitano“ in a very expressive way and this was the proof that Roberto made a mistake not to completely believe in us.
The dark voice of Dario influenced others and our already mystic image with crosses, was copied by some english bands.
It was a success greater than „Body Heat“, everything was going well, 1984 was a very happy year for us

Is it possible to find out why Victor Life left the band during the middle of preparing the album?
I don’t hide you that there were some discussions with Dario caused by the inadeguate production, but in 1985 I had personal problems, it was a really hard year for me; but this wasn’t the main cause of our failed success, various external decisions damaged us badly and we couldn’t do anything against them.

Don't you think it's a pity Fockewulf 190 never released an album? Do you have some italo disco songs that have been written in the 80s that have never published? Releasing them today would be a great move - what do you think about it?
We can say that Electrum Lux, is for the most , that album that never came out in 1984, in a more deeply meaning is a return to the future, and the FW190 are a time machine.
A little demonstration of how the music is timeless and it has only a space where you can move inside.

I would like to ask you about Dario Dall'Aere's song ‘Eagles In The Night’. I could see on the record, the names, ‘Tiziana Dall'Aere’ and ‘Nora Dall'Aere’... who are they? Am I being too curious? :-)
Tiziana Dell'Aere is Dario’s wife and a dear friend of mine; she made the cover of the record.
Nora Dell'Aere was our female back voice, present in „No Sex“ and „Gitano“ too.

Also, about the song ‘Turnidada’ by Frank Tavaglione? The same team, the same vocalist, but a different artist name....
Frank Tavaglione was a dear friend who hang out with us at the Taxi Club.
Mincioni needed to make some productions for his label and we proposed to him „Tumidanda“.
Later they became related, Paolo ( Tavaglione ) married his cousin, after he met her during a show. It seems I had something to do in creating families too! I remember that guy with a great affection.

How did you choose the label for your songs ‘Body Heat’ for Market Records (sub-label of Discomagic), and ‘Gitano’ for F1 Team? .… F1 Team didn't normally release italo disco songs ....
Panarecord was a new experience for us, but the work for „Gitano“ was successful.
The promotion, the launch at studio 105, everything was right.
We were even about to go to San Remo with „Gitano“, but in the end they didn’t choose the piece beacuse it was in english.
When we performed for the selections at CGD theatre, it seemed like a Champions league game… the jury composed by university students gave us the first prize, but the festival organization said that we were fucking crazy and we were not ok for the main festival… destiny again.

I would like to ask you about your live performances. Did you do a lot of them? You also looked on stage like someone who came from the future :-) Obviously, you wanted to show things that were ahead of all of us....
Yeah, I think you got it right. In the scene certain things are known. We were considered the new Rockets because our alien image, even if different from theirs, more mystic for sure.
But don’t worry, we are preparing something very special for our fans, I can only say you that our image is always been the reflection of a deep spirituality; something true and real, the divine part of ourselves that we can’t show in real life.

When happened at the reunion of Fockewulf 190? And why?
The FW190 were formed to give life to a great artistic dream, a very personal one, borned by the oniric visions of Dario and me and that derive from the prophecy of the famous 1984, it’s origin have to be searched in the marks leaved by records like „Diamond Dogs“ by Bowie or „Metamatic“ by John Foxx (an ufo who left on earth a concept of music still so futuristic today), movies like “The Man Who Fell to Earth” or even more “Phantom of the paradise” by Brian de Palma.

What are your goals now?
Our artistic goal is always the same, to create a new era dedicated to electronic mysticism, a new tendence ellenic futurist. We are tired of all this guys walking around in their underwears. The 80’s in that area were so much better than this medieval new millennium.
As often happens the future is the past. The history of band like Kraftwerk or Roxy Music is there to teach everybody how great music is made to last beyond time.

To end, can you share with us any private things, anything about your life, or other occupations other than music, etc?
You know, when I was 20 years old I dreamed to be the new David Bowie, now at 43 anni, I’m glad just making good music and having fun with my old friends.
I can say that in the 90's, when we put some distance from the music scene, we made a lot of researches and studies in classic history and esoteric civilizations.
Dario made also a web site about Castel Del Monte: the apocalypse temple, and I wrote a book called "The golden last metamorphosis", not published yet, that I hope it will be soon.
In the book I will tell the true history of Victor Life... I’m joking, If I do that I will be arrested…. Ahahahahaha!

Grazie per la disponibilità e per l'intervista. dopo molti anni, i FW 190 sono tornati. perche? era il momento giusto e basta oppure sentivate come un bisogno di fare musica dopo tutti questi anni ?

In realtà i Fockewulf 190 non hanno mai smesso di fare musica, si sono semplicemente nascosti nel silenzio del tempo, come un animale ferito, aspettando il momento più opportuno per rinascere a nuova vita.
Devo tornare indietro nel tempo per farti capire le ragioni di questa scelta, per alcuni versi anche molto dolorosa.
Nel 1984, dopo i fortunati singoli Body heat e Gitano, tutto era pronto per l'uscita del nostro primo album, durante la lunga tornee di 48 date, di quel fatidico anno, presentavamo già le traccie del nuovo lavoro, come Walking Out e Oh Oh Oh, che oggi puoi ascoltare in My space, ma propio dopo l'ultimo show a capodanno del 1985, il giocattolo si ruppe improvvisamete.
Un bel giono Il nostro produttore, ci comunicò misteriosamente l'intenzione di abbandonare il progetto, costruito con così tanta cura.
Fu una doccia troppo fredda per noi, inoltre io ebbi nei mesi sucessivi gravi problemi di salute che non mi consentirono di proseguire la mia carriera.
Dario uscì come solista con la ben nota Eagles in the Night, ma ben presto si rese conto che lo spirito dei FW190 era ben altra cosa, così tentammo un ultimo sussulto d'orgoglio nel 1988 con la cover degli Heaven 17 "Height of the fighting" sotto falso nome di Demode Boulevard, ma fu tutto inutile.
Le belle atmosfere romantiche e futuriste degli anni 80's se n'erano andate per sempre e noi con loro.
Eravamo schifati dall'ambiente discografico italiano che non aveva saputo sfruttare al meglio un gruppo di talento come i Fockewulf, così nel 1990 abbiamo abbandonato milano, una città piena di fantasmi, per rigenerarci al sole di Rimini e vivere con le nostre dolci consorti, un pò di dolce vita romagnola.
In questo periodo durato diversi anni abbiamo sempre suonato e composto nuove canzoni, come In my soul, Magic world e Orient express, che faranno parte del nuovo disco.

Vorrei sapere chi sono i membri dei fw 190 oggi, nel 2007

Siamo sempre noi, Dario Dell'Aere alla voce e il sottoscritto Victor Life ai Synth e computers, con l'aggiunta di Markus Moonlite come paroliere e secondo tastierista, che tra l'altro è anche uno stimato critico musicale, scrive su ondarock.it
Mentre il chitarrista Sten After ( Salvatore Nonnis) non è più con noi da diversi anni.

In questi giorni state preparando la vostra musica per il 2008. avete in programma di pubblicare un nuovo disco chiamato "Electrum Lux“ (o è il nome della band, non mi è chiaro).
puoi dirmi qualcosa di più a riguardo ? che tipo di stile e canzoni saranno incluse e come avete scelto il nome "electrum lux" ? cosa significa?

In origine il progetto Electrum Lux era stato pensato come nascita di una nuova Band, poi in un secondo tempo, ci siamo resi conto che era la naturale evoluzione del suono dei FW 190.
Electrum Lux sarà il titolo del nuovo disco, che ci auguriamo uscirà nel 2008, l'idea è di unire il passato con il futuro, una visione mistica del futurismo con atmosfere orientaleggianti che risentono delle nostre esperienze nel campo della cultura esoterica.
Alcune traccie sono appartenenti, come dicevo prima, al periodo degli anni 80's, ci saranno anche le nuove versioni di Body Heat e Gitano, e una cover di The Model dei Kraftwerk.
Altre canzoni invece sono del tutto inedite e riflettono questa nostra nuova tendenza nel cercare di creare un sound sospeso nel tempo, dove l'idea romantica del futurismo si sposa con la tematica del misticismo, un ambient sonoro dove l'occidente incontra l'oriente.
Electrum è una parola latina ancora in uso nella lingua inglese, nell'antichità era una lega tra l'oro e l'argento che rapprersentava l'unione simbolica tra l'elemento maschile e femminile universale, utilizzata in genere nel forgiare anelli.
Ma più profondamente Electrum Lux è un nome appartenente ad una certa cultura magico Kabalistica, dove al suo interno possiamo ritrovare uno degli attributi numerici e sonori della divinità creatrice del cosmo, da qui il potere dell'electrum.

Avevamo il desiderio di risuonare Body Heat con alla voce Dario Dell'Aere, come del resto doveva essere nel 1984.
Senza nulla togliere a Fred Ventura, questa versione la riteniamo più sincera anche nei confronti del nostro pubblico.

Pensate di poter attirare l'attenzione dei fans dell'italo disco dopo „Body Heat“ 1984?

Noi non pensavamo di essere ancora oggi ricordati dai fans dell'italo disco sparsi in tutto il mondo, Body Heat new version che probabilmente avrà un nome diverso, come del resto sarà anche per Gitano, è un piccolo omaggio a tutte quelle persone che non ci hanno dimenticati.

Beh, Body Heat originale del 1984 è una delle più grandi canzoni italo disco di sempre. il cantante era Fred Ventura.
la copertina dice che il cantante è invece Dario Dall'Aere. potete spiegarmi questa cosa, per favore?

Fu un piccolo compromesso..... pur di uscire con la produzione di Mincioni con Turati e Chieregato.
A posteriori devo dire che fu una scelta felice, all'epoca ci costò molto, anche perchè Dario l'aveva cantata ottimamente, ma Roberto considerava quella voce stile di John Foxx, poco commerciale e così non se ne fece nulla, finchè non ci proposero quella con Fred Ventura. Vedi questo è un classico esempio delle nostre difficoltà con la discografia italiana dell'epoca, che ti dicevo all'inizio, ci dicevano siete i nuovi Ultravox e poi tenevano legato un aereo da guerra come quello dei Fockewulf come fosse un aquilone di cartone.
Fossimo stati inglesi, la storia del gruppo oggi sarebbe ben diversa, ma ognuno ha il suo destino, ha volte lo devi accettare tuo malgrado prima di poterlo trasformare e plasmare a tuo piacimento.

Come descrivereste la musica che facevate negli anni 80 ?

Non certo italo disco, noi ci distaccavamo da quella serie di canzoni da discoteca che facevano Den Harrow e gli altri, per noi era chiaro il concetto di New Wave, c'era una ricerca sonora tipica del Synth Pop dell'epoca. Per quanto Dance i nostri singoli erano abbastanza particolari e dovevano servire da apripista a quell' album sperimantale che non uscì mai, ma che oggi rivive in chiave nuova in Electrum Lux.

Prima dei Fockewulf 190 c'era un progetto Ice Eyes con la canzone No Sex“, nel 1982.
potete parlarmi di questo progetto e come vi siete incontrati? è stato alla fine degli anni 70, giusto ?

Io e Dario ci siamo conosciuti nel 79, fuori dal cinema Astra di milano, dove davano il celebre film " Il fantasma del palcoscenico", nel 1980 nasceva la nostra prima band, i Diamond Dogs. Quando iniziammo a suonare dal vivo nel 1981, per il famoso locale New Romantic "Taxi Club", alter ego del mitico blitz londinese, ci notò un piccolo produttore e ci propose di fare un singolo, quel disco fu No Sex.
Utilizammo il nome Ice Eyes, perchè Diamond Dogs, famoso capolavoro di David bowie, ci sembrava non accostabile alla dimensione della produzione.
Fu comunque un piccolo successo nell'ambiente underground milanese.

Il nome Fockewulf 190 apparve per la prima volta nei primi anni 80's.
potete dirmi come lo avete scelto e chi erano i membri della band?

Nel 1983 cercavamo un produttore serio, il destino ci fece incontrare Paolo Mincioni che aveva un negozio di dischi sotto la metropolitana di piazzale loreto a Milano. Lui ci conosceva molto bene, in quanto forniva i dischi al DJ del Taxi che poi era il nostro chitarrista, Stan After o meglio Salvatore Nonnis, e ci propose subito di fare un successo con Turati e Chieregato, che già erano famosi con Den Harrow e altri artisti.
Avevamo bisogno di un nome forte, provocatorio, che non passasse inosservato , Fockewulf 190 era perfetto, un aereo tedesco, che Dario appassionato di modellismo aveva costruito in scala. Fu una scelta che non aveva nulla a che vedere con la politica.
Life De Noire era il mio nome artistico dell'epoca, che ora ho semplificato nel mio nome reale "Victor" Life.

Due nomi importanti della italo disco fecero gli arrangiamenti per body heat: Miki Chieregato Roberto Turatti.
potete dirmi come li avete incontrati e come è stato lavorare con loro ?

Lavorare con Roberto e Miki, fu un piacere.
Devi sapere che fu propio Turati a confidarmi che la loro idea di fare produzioni nacque dopo aver ascoltato la nostra No Sex, Roberto era in effetti il Dj dell'American Disaster, il locale rivale a 200 metri di distanza dal nostro Taxi Club.
E' incredibile ma a quanto pare siamo stati propio noi a dare il via al movimento italo disco, del resto No Sex fu la prima canzone da discoteca italiana cantata in inglese, ad eccezzione della produzione italo tedesca di quel genio di Giorgio Moroder o dei successi dei Krisma di Maurizio, gli unici artisti di casa nostra che ho sempre stimato perchè hanno fatto la storia della musica electronica.
Non sò se Roberto pensasse veramente quella cosa, ho voleva solo farmi un complimento, ma io ne fui comunque orgoglioso, tanto che me la ricordo come fosse ieri.

Come mai lavoraste con loro solo per un'altra canzone dato che body heat ebbe un così grande successo ?

Ancora oggi me lo chiedo, bisogna che fai questa domanda a loro, io penso che nonostante la stima che ci avevano dimostrato, pensavano che eravamo una band non propio in linea con le loro produzioni, vedi la scelta di far cantare Fred ventura in body heat fu evidente.
Quando ci videro dal vivo alla belle epoque, rimasero colpiti dal nostro modo di fare spettacolo, ma ormai era troppo tardi, avevano fatto un accordo sulla parola con Mincioni.
Sono convinto che se il gatto e la volpe fossero stati i nostri produttori, i Fockewulf sarebbero oggi un nome di fama mondiale, con una piccola differenza, noi oggi facciamo ancora musica e non andiamo all'isola dei famosi a fare gli sfigati per far parlare un pò di noi.

Conoscevate Chieregato/Turatti prima di "Body Heat“?

Non conoscevo miki e roberto prima di body Heat se non di fama, e non li ho più rivisti da allora. C'è qualcosa che mi dice che prima o poi ci sarà un ritorno al futuro.........

Avete incontrato altri artisti della produzione chieregato / Turatti? se si, potete parlarcene ?

Naturalmente si, anzi praticamente tutti, facevamo le stesse serate , ma solo con Alberto Styloo sono rimasto amico, mi piaceva il suo modo elegante di presentarsi sul palco era un vero Dandy.
Oggi lo stimo come musicista, anzi penso che farà per noi qualche versione remix nel nuovo disco Electrum Lux.

Dopo body heat venne gitano, altro grande pezzo. potete parlarcene per favore? Dario Dall'Aere era il nuovo vocalist, giusto ?

Si Dario cantò in maniera molto espressiva Gitano, è questa fu la prova che forse il buon Roberto si sbagliò a non credere in noi fino in fondo. La voce Dark di Dario fece tendenza e la nostra immagine già molto mistica con le croci, dette vita a varie imitazioni anglosassoni.
Fu un successo superiore a Body Heat, tutto sembrava andare per il meglio, il 1984 fu un anno molto felice per noi.

E' possibile sapere come mai victor life lascio la band nel bel mezzo della preparazione dell'album ?

Non ti nego che ci fu qualche dissapore con Dario per via della produzione inadeguata, ma effettivamente nel 1985 io ebbi dei problemi personali, fu davvero un anno difficile per me.
Ma non fu questa la causa del nostro mancato successo, bensì una serie di decisioni esterne che pesarono su di noi come macigni, contro le quali eravamo impotenti.

Non credete sia un peccato che i Fockewulf 190 non abbiamo mai pubblicato un album ?
avete delle canzoni italo disco scritte negli 80 che non sono mai state pubblicate?
farle uscire oggi sarebbe una grande mossa, che ne pensate ?

Si può dire che Electrum Lux, in buona parte, è quell' album che non uscì mai nel 1984, nel senso più profondo del termine è un ritorno al futuro, e i Fockewulf sono una macchina del tempo. Una piccola dimostrazione di come la musica non abbia tempo, ma solo una spazio dentro cui potersi muovere.

Vorrei chiederti di Eagles In The Night di Dario Dall'Aere.
ho visto sui titoli tiziana dell'aere e dopo nora dell'aere... chi sono ? sono troppo curioso.

Tiziana Dell'Aere è la moglie di Dario, una mia carissima amica, fece la copertina del singolo, mentre Nora Dell'Aere era la nostra back voice femminile, presente sia in No Sex che in Gitano.

E anche nella canzone Turnidada di Frank Tavaglione? stessa squadra, stesso vocalista, diverso nome...

Frank Tavaglione era un caro amico che frequentavamo ai tempi del Taxi Club, Mincioni aveva bisogno di fare produzioni per la sua etichetta e noi gli proponemmo Tumidanda, be... devo dire che poi sono diventati anche parenti, Paolo ( Tavaglione ) si sposò con sua cugina, conosciuta ad uno spettacolo.
Tutto sommato ho dato il mio contributo a formare anche delle famiglie.......ricordo quel ragazzo con grande affetto.

Come avete scelto l'etichetta per „Body Heat e gitano ? (Market Records (sublabel of Discomagic) (F1 Team.per Gitano).... F1 team non avevano pubblicato italo disco prima di allora.

A differenza della market records la Panarecord, fu un esperienza nuova per noi, però l'intesa per Gitano fu vincente, la promozione, disco lancio a studio 105, fu azzeccata.
Pensa che dovevamo anche andare a San Remo con Gitano, ma scartarono il pezzo perchè era cantato in inglese, quando ci presentammo alla prove eliminatorie, manco fosse la champions league, tenute al teatro della CGD, la giuria composta da ragazzi universitari, ci premiò col primo posto, ma l'organizzazione disse che eravamo dei pazzi scatenati, e che non eravamo in linea col grande festival........quando si dice il destino.

Vorrei chiedervi dei vostri live. potete dirmi come li facevate e soprattuto, apparivate sul palco come qualcuno che venisse dal futuro. volevate ovviamente farci vedere qualcosa che stava avanti anni luce rispetto a noi ?

Si credo che tu abbia centrato il discorso. Nell'ambiente certe cose si sanno, noi eravamo considerati i nuovi Rochets, per la nostra immagine da alieni, per quanto diversa dalla loro. Sicuramente più mistica, ma niente paura abbiamo in progetto qualcosa di speciale per il nostro pubblico, posso dirti solo che per noi l'immagine è sempre stata il riflesso di una profonda spiritualità. Qualcosa di genuino, la parte divina di noi stessi che nella vita reale non si può manifestare.

Quando si sono riformati i Fockewulf 190? e perchè?

I Fockewulf si formarono per dar vita a un grande sogno artistico, del tutto personale, uscito dalle visioni oniriche di Dario e Life, che avevano le sue radici nella profezia del famoso 1984, le sue origini sono da ricercare nei solchi di Diamond Dogs di Bowie, in un Film come l'uomo che cadde sulla terra e ancor di più in Phanton of the paradise di brian de palma, ma anche in album storici come Metamatic di John Foxx. Un Ufo che lasciò sulla terra un disco ancor oggi incredibilmente avanti come concetto.

Qual'è il vostro obiettivo ora ?

l nostro obbiettivo artistico è sempre lo stesso, dar vita ad una nuova era dedicata al misticismo elettronico, una nuova tendenza ellenico futurista, basta con questi ragazzi che vanno in giro in mutande, in questo senso gli anni 80's erano avanti anni luce rispetto a questi medioevali anni duemila.
Come spesso capita a volte il futuro è nel passato. La storia di gruppi come i Kraftwerk o i Roxy Music è li ad insegnare a tutti come si fa della grande musica al di la del tempo.

Per finire, potete condividere con noi qualcosa di privato, sulle vostre vite, altri lavori oltre alla musica ?

Sai quando avevo 20 anni sognavo di diventare il nuovo David Bowie, oggi a 43 anni, mi accontento di fare della buona musica e di divertirmi con gli amici di sempre, posso dirti però che negli anni 90's, quando ci siamo distaccati dal mondo della musica, abbiamo fatto in realtà molti studi e ricerche nel campo della storia classica sulle antiche civiltà esoteriche, Dario ha fatto anche un sito su Castel Del Monte: il tempio dell'apocalisse, ed io ho scritto un libro "The golden last metamorphosis" che naturalmente è ancora inedito, ma che spero di far uscire in un prossimo futuro.
Nel quale racconterò la vera storia di Victor Life.....scherzo altrimenti mi arrestano.... ahahahahaha
