Depending on my mood, I'm into most every kind of music. I only like particular people from every genre and some genres there are only a few bands that I will listen to. For metal, its pretty much these guys and maybe one or two others. There's music I like to drive to, music I like to relax to, music for just about every occasion. I never really understood people who were only into one genre since I can't see how that would suit someone all the time.
That's just me though

How is that pronounced? Is it Meshuggah soundling like slang for "my sugar"...you know, like "Me - shu - gA" OR is it, Meshuggah like a Tai Kwon Do enthusiast might say, you know..like "Me - shOO - Ga"...just wondering.

I actually don't know since I don't know any real fans of theirs.
They're Swedish if that helps

I've asked a Swedish friend, but it's not a Swedish word. Like mention below, it's jiddish. Appearently the band plays in Sweden this summer.

Eh, I kinda know this one but ... all right then ... Meshuggah is a Yiddish word meaning crazy or insane ... So I wonder if it's pronounced similarly (muh-shoog-uh).

Also, listening by mood is not just you. As a teen I used to be one who would say I like everything except rap and metal but I couldn't justify why I'd listen to certain heavy metal or rap artists. I realized that my music listening was based on mood. There's a smorgasbord of music to pick and choose from out there so I listen to what I like regardless of genre. (I shall now break into song and sing "We are the World"...just kidding)

Actually, for me, it only helps if they are male and play a musical instrument, preferrably brass blowing, but strings work, and drums..and singing is a good thing, but I am not particularly swayed by any Swedish descent.

Meshuggah means crazy (or so I..ve beeb told). I think it..s a jiddish word...

I also love this music. I actually teach this music because it..s so rhytmically rich. Me and the percussion teacher at our school put together a death metal orchestra playing Meshuggah tunes.
(sounds like a cheezy concept but the kids learnd a lot!!)

I know this is totally out of context of this subject ,but i was intrigued to know how you got into music?.In Ireland this week there are a series of improvisation workshops goin on from Berklee College in Boston .There will then be auditions for some scholarships for the chosen few.
They mention Aimee Mann among others that have studied there. It sounds like an amazing place, the study of contemporary music at its best, with the" Stan Getz Media Centre and Library " packed with thousands of books, musical scores ,videos, sheets.god this young talent that get picked are so lucky.
I think this is Berklees first trip here.Is this a regular thing to happen in the states.
