If I type my name in Greek characters it reads ?----? ?--??--?. This does not read Beth Dariti, but rather something like Veti Thariti; not far off admittedly, but so much is lost in the direct translation. Things are not as straight forward as we would hope.
In the same respect, we cannot translate feelings into words always, not only that, but cause everyone's interpretation is different, we end up with many different angles and stories. This I think is great, we are all unique. The simplicity of us all having different fingerprints, identity – we need to celebrate it.
I have been meaning to write a blog for the past 3 months. I have probably started 10 and finished none… Time has been limited and trying to word and phrase what I have been through is difficult. I was going to write about my 2007. About losing my father to cancer towards the end of it and earlier in the year having lost a good friend to cancer too. The trauma and hard work my brother and I went through. Other important and mostly not so happy events of the year, when I decided to simply update on the present and future.
I am back in London for now (I was in Greece for 2 months caring for my dying father; with my brother). Adrian and I are moving in together. "In-Between" that was finished last year will be released! I am generally feeling quite positive about 2008, the year of the rat. Not my year, it was supposedly my year last year – pig. Wasn't a very good one, what does Chinese astrology have to say about that?
I sold my nice orange guitar last month too, the Gretsch. I have however acquired (inherited) one of my dad's many instruments, a beautiful Bach Flugelhorn! Random, I was planning on selling it but it's nearly impossible to find a buyer for it. So they say "if you can't beat them, join them". So I decided when the days get longer in spring I'm going to start going to the woods and learn few notes. If you're reading this and can play it and want to learn guitar, I'd be happy to do a skill-swap!?
On the positive note, I find Nizlopi one of the most uplifting bands at the moment. If you like festivals, summer and perhaps muddy England, check this out! In the event that you haven't heard of this great British band, go get their albums, or at the very least check out their music on MySpace!
(:
Bethdariti.com has also finally been slightly updated. Same design and all, html and all, haven't progressed to flash yet… But if you know me, you'll know I'm not flash. I prefer mat to gloss, brown to pink, candles to light bulbs, wood to metal… and so on so forth.
So, gigs will be played, albums will be released and recorded, collaborations will grow, travels will unfold… may you love and be loved, be as healthy as you can and be nice.
Love and hugs,
Beth x
